2021 LP from the duo of Mick Turner (Dirty Three/Bleak Squad/Fancy Weapon/etc.) and Helen Franzmann (AKA McKisko), which was part of the Bedroom Suck label’s Private Eyes series.

Limited-edition albums mining the ‘ambient’ genre, in a loose sense, they were the perfect soundtracks for the Covid era.

Last handful of copies left! 👁️

2022 LP from this Illawarra (coastal NSW, thanks) loose outfit who combine environmental and ambient sounds into a truly tasteful brew that hovers among the musical universes of Brian Eno and The Dirty Three.

Lush, lyrical and immersive instrumental music ✨

Charlie Ivan Band channel the shimmering intensity of the Central Australian landscape into ‘Of Nothing’, their second album released via Bedroom Suck Records.

Recorded on Mparntwe Country, the album moves between alternative rock and desert folk, carrying the emotional weight of the place it was made.

This week, Charlie Ivan takes over Australian Music Is Bloody Great, sharing some of the Australian artists he’s listening to right now, including Michael Beach, Ella Ion, Ricky Albeck and more.

Download the @communityradioplus app and tune in to edge on Mon and Tue evenings for the latest episode!

This week, Dave talks about SUPERGROUPS... but those of the independent varietal.

That is, some Australian bands made up of various members also known for their contributions to other notable bands.

BOOMGATES. STATION MODEL VIOLENCE. YOUNG CHARLATANS.

And yes, we know that ‘Supergroup’ isn’t a genre 😁

Magnificent, epic set from 2021 by Dusty and the mighty Dag.

Back in ye olden days, we called this ‘dolewave’, but Dag are just so much more. Sharp, observational lyrics with tunes that stick in yer craw, they remain one of the great hidden treasures of Australian underground music in the 21st century.

Hail, Dag! 👁️
