POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
OCTOBER STACK

Tagged by @ovium_reads , @bella_bibliophile_bello , @the_dragon_reread, and @ashleyfinamorereads to spell out October, which just so happens to be one of my favorite months.

Cool weather, leaves changing, spooky season, and that brief little window where New York remembers fall is supposed to exist before launching us directly into darkness and winter.

I’m also enjoying my first real foray into horror way more than I expected. Apparently I spent all these years being a chicken for nothing because I have barely been able to put Duma Key down.

So maybe Spooktober Drew is here to stay? We’ll see how brave I’m feeling by the end of the month…

O — Oathbringer
C — Cell’s Gate
T — Tai-Pan
O — Of Blood and Fire
B — Before They Are Hanged
E — Empire of Silence
R — Ruin

Tagging some peeps to keep October rolling before the leaves all fall off in a three day span

Pinstripe stack! Mixing two of my favorite things, The Yankees and books!! The playoffs are in full swing and the Yankees are down 0-1 to the Rays in the best of 5 ALDS. Game 2 is tonight so I figured a pinstripe stack could maybe give the Yanks some good mojo at least??? My evening is going to be stressful and full of anxiety 😅 If we lose I’ll be off somewheres being despondent. I’ve been a Yankees fan longer than I’ve been reading. If you don’t like sports, don’t start now. Life is stressful enough without rooting for people you don’t know to hit and catch a ball 😂

OCTOBER TBR & HOPEFULS

October is here and for the first time I’m actually making a proper run at Spooktober.

This will be my first real foray into horror, which feels mildly suspicious considering how long I’ve been reading. But not really, since I have notoriously always been a chicken. I decided to make up for lost time by putting Stephen King, Joe Hill, and C.J. Leede on the same stack. Should be fine?

The Plan:
The Fury of the Gods — John Gwynne
Dead Beat — Jim Butcher
Duma Key — Stephen King
King Sorrow — Joe Hill
American Rapture — C.J. Leede

The Hopefuls:
The Scour — Richard Swan
Bloody Rose — Nicholas Eames

Will there be sidequests? Already in the works.

So we’ve got dragons, wizards, emotional damage, and now an attempt at getting properly creeped out for October.

Seems reasonable

Dead Beat

Blood Rites is hella mid right now, which I expected.

I’m hoping to finish it off soon, pick up @caseys_bookcases, and right the ship with Dead Beat.

American Rapture

Working our way through C.J.’s catalog and ruining different foods one book at a time.

I wonder what’s in store for us this time?

King Sorrow

Another one from my 10 Before the End and part of this whole “Drew finally reads horror” experiment

Also an absolute unit, because apparently even my spooky books need to threaten my wrists.

I’m hoping that’s the biggest worry I have with this book.

Duma Key

My first foray into Stephen King.

I know… breathe…

I’m excited to be doing this one with @ashleyfinamorereads and getting my proper introduction to horror kicked off this month!

Bloody Rose

Another carryover from last month that, yet again, is @shawnsbookcorner’s fault.

I’m beginning to notice a pattern here.

The Scour

A carryover from last month. One last trip back into the Empire of the Wolf world. Trials wrapped up the trilogy, but we are a Swan household now.

It’ll likely be @freakforfiction and I since @shawnsbookcorner decided he hates Richard Swan personally. I heard him say that verbatim and I wouldn’t lie.

Let us be about it.

The Fury of the Gods

The Slags doth persist!! After the way The Hunger of the Gods ended there was absolutely no chance we were waiting arou

SHELFIE SUNDAY | BOOKSTAVERSARY EDITION

Somehow it’s already been a year since I started this account

Back when I repped for TBB I spoke about what this account was intended for. I wanted somewhere to talk about books, get myself out of my chronic rereading habits, and hopefully meet some people along the way.

And for once I’m not being sarcastic when I say this… the people ended up being the best part!!

Somewhere between buddy reads, group chats, endless recommendations that I somehow agreed to anyway, and everyone repeatedly convincing me to add just one more book to the TBR, I made some genuinely amazing friends here.

People I talk to every day. People I look forward to reading with. People who have become a much bigger part of my life than I ever expected when I made an Instagram account to yap about books.

Seriously, thank you to everyone who has read with me, talked books with me, tagged me in challenges and everything in between, enabled my book buying, or just made this little corner of the internet such a fun place to be.

A year ago I hoped I might find some people to share this hobby with.

I think I did pretty damn well!
