✨ I know you’ve seen this one everywhere, but hear me out...I read this book TWICE in two weeks! The second time was the audiobook and it was so powerful!

A huge thank you to @alltoo.wellread for my SIGNED physical copy that she so generously gifted to me! Her thoughtfulness knows no bounds.

BACKGROUND
Annie and Niecy are ‘cradle friends’. Best friends by choices, sisters by circumstance. While coming of age during the Jim Crow era, both girls try to navigate life motherless in ways that are unique to them but also side by side as best friends.

IMPRESSIONS
To say this book blew me away is a gross understatement! Kin is a living, breathing story about mothers and daughters, friendship and sisterhood, and the complexities of being a woman in the American South. A sweeping, undeniably unique coming-of-age story, all you want to do is pull these girls into a giant hug and tell them they’re wonderful, beautiful, and loved.

And oh the side characters! Some only show up once or twice but they make such a powerful impact. A well-written side character can make or break a book for me and Tayari handles them with such a beautifully deft hand that it wouldn’t be the same without them.

The nonlinear timeline and unique chapter structure give the reader a tangible version of character development and plot progression. Each character arc is beautifully composed individually, but it’s how they weave together that gives Kin its heart. It’s truly one of a kind!

AUDIO
Angel Pean and Ashley J. Hobbs were phenomenal. They were better than I could have imagined! The passion and emotion conveyed by both was both engrossing and I highly recommend going this route!

RECOMMENDATION
There are both achingly beautiful and gut-wrenching parts of the girls’ stories that will sit with you forever, and there is no question that I recommend this book to everyone. This would make a fantastic book club choice or

Eleven months after ordering and my Bridgerton Illumicrate set is here! ✨

I have wanted this set since it was first printed. But as a SAHM, I felt guilty spending *so much* money on myself, espcially on books (and when I already own the second book).

But that didn’t stop me from occasionally looking online to see if anyone was selling their set which LOL because omg the prices people were charging.

So when the most recent reprint was announced, I knew it was now or never. And this time, I felt less guilty about the purchase. Mostly because I was starting as a substitute teacher, but also, because I realized that it’s okay to treat yourself to nice things once in a while (and I had been thinking about these books for what, two years?).

I still waited until almost the last day to place my order though. 😂

Zero regrets.

I love them and am currently deciding which bookshelf will be their forever home.

✨Ya girl loves a trend…but make some silly✨

I’ve seen a few of these going around and I KNEW I couldn’t pull off a Netflix documentary or the birthday color chart, so I took the easy route. 😂💃🏻

💭 Which one’s your favorite?? Bonus points if you recognize what the boombox is from. 🤌🏼
