Back-to-school season brings earlier mornings, busy afternoons, homework, activities, and a big adjustment in your child’s daily rhythm. 🍂📚 And after a full day of learning and stimulation, sometimes the hardest part is helping their bodies and minds realize that it’s time to slow down.

A simple bedtime yoga routine can help create a consistent transition from the busyness of the school day to rest.

One of our favorite practices is Back-to-Back Breathing. Sit comfortably back-to-back with your child and take several slow, easy breaths together. Encourage your child to notice the movement of your back as you breathe—and the feeling of their own breath moving through their body.

It’s simple, requires no equipment, and offers something children often need just as much as relaxation at the end of the day: a few quiet minutes of connection with you. ❤️

Back-to-Back Breathing is just one way to bring yoga and mindfulness into your family’s evening routine. We’ve shared 6 tips for creating a calmer back-to-school bedtime routine on the ChildLight Education Company blog.

Do you know a child who has lost a grown-up they loved? Have you? … our latest MWM Storytime on YouTube is just in time for Father’s Day ❣️

Rachel’s boys were just 7 and 8 years old when their best friend’s father passed away far too soon. She wishes she had a book like “Where Did Poppy Go?” to help guide those tender conversations about loss, grief, and love.

Now, Rachel shares Gail Silver’s beautiful story with families everywhere, inviting children to read, move, and breathe along as they process big feelings and remember that love remains. 💛

Written by Gail Silver @gailsilver1
Illustrated by Amanda Quartey @amandaqart Published by Parallax Press @parallaxpress

This tender story follows a father and son after the loss of a beloved grandfather. Through the changing seasons, children discover that grief, love, remembrance, and hope can all exist together.

Picture books have a special way of putting words to feelings. They help children understand themselves and the people they love, tending to grief with gentle care.

Join us on the Move With Me Storytime Channel on YouTube as we move, breathe, and explore “Where Did Poppy Go?” together. 📚💙
