Join OPO (One Poem After) - a lovely podcast at by Maggie Devers - where she reads one poem a day with no analysis;simply for the beauty of listening, reflection, and pleasure. You can join @rembrandts.cure and will find yourself delighted by her curation and fabulous voice. In April she built Poetry community by inviting listeners to write One Poem After. It was such a huge success, inspiring many poets to write poems they otherwise would not have been inspired to write. For June @rembrandts.cure is taking each day to read two poems - one poem from April and one poem written as an After Poem inspired by that poem. I am thrilled to have 2 After Poems read on this podcast. The first is shown in this post to to a poem after @bellylux. I’ll post later about the poem coming up at the end of June. Join OPO and enjoy this inspiring community of poets.#poetry #poetrycommunity #poetrypodcast #inspiration #listeningpleasure

"Sixth Sense"
by Allison Dean

After Belly Lux

I saw you across campus
a lighthouse amidst rolling waves of bodies
crashing between classes and lunch tables
or maybe a siren
to dash me upon your rocks?

I felt my legs shake unsteady
a fawn freezing in its place
before the glare of headlights
or maybe learning to walk
under the loving gaze of a doe?

I tasted petrichor on my tongue
a herald to a coming storm
brewing in your eyes
or maybe a promise
of impending bloom?

I smelled department store perfume on the wind
a chemical sweetness of extracts
clogging up my lungs
or maybe a bouquet
of springtime flowers?

I heard your laugh ring out
a mocking cackle from a schoolyard witch
calling me to a gingerbread snare
or maybe an endeared giggle
guiding me back towards a breadcrumb trail?

I know these feelings
are omens of an end time
social ruin on my horizon
or maybe divine signs
of a brighter future?

Or maybe the world doesn’t revolve around
a teenage boy
with a crush?

This poem was written as part of One Poem Only's Write After series, hosted by @rembrandts.cure. It is a response to Belly Lux's poem "Tower Moment". #WriteAfterOPO

Belly Lux ‘I Cannot Begin To Untangle Myself From You’ from our Issue 1

It’s widely known that summer has come to an end —and even autumn too (oh, and we’ll still be publishing the animals mini issue). However, this piece resonates deeply with many of the emotions experienced over the past few months.
We sincerely apologise for our absence without prior notice, but we’re now 100% committed to the magazine. We want to help it grow, and it’s going to be very cool.
To everyone who submitted their work, please don’t worry —it will be published in due course. We'll be working tirelessly. Big things are coming!! And quite possibly physical books as well.
If you have any questions or need anything at all, you know how to contact us. More than happy to reply as soon as possible :)
Please do come closer —ribs mag is back, and better than ever!! You can also support Georgia on her new instagram account @affairsbygeo, where she’ll be sharing her poems.
That’s all for now. Thank you very much, and happy holidays! What a magical time, full of surprises and changes 🎀
