Belvebuth - VANITY (2023)

SPOTIFY & YOUTUBE

“VANITY” is an aggressive blackened deathcore song by the American metal band Belvebuth, officially released on April 7, 2023. It stands as the fifth track on their conceptually driven debut studio album, ESSENCE OF EVIL.
Consistent with the title ESSENCE OF EVIL, the album is a concept record built entirely around the Seven Deadly Sins and their corresponding manifestations. “VANITY” acts as the centerpiece of this exploration, focusing on pride, superficiality, and self-obsession. Lyrically, the song adopts a dark, sinister tone that strips away human ego, opening with a direct, chilling confrontation:
“Now look into the mirror. And tell me what you see. Face misshapen...”
Musically, the song embodies the crushing weight of the modern heavy underground scene. It relies on low, guttural vocals, frantic “slam” patterns, down-tuned atmospheric guitar grooves, and massive, punishing breakdowns.

❗️DISCLAIMER, all but two of the photos in this post are not mine. If you know the photographer, please tag them in the comments with what band so we can give proper credit and follow them❗️

Ahem…anywho.

Over the years I’ve touted my personal “pillars” of the PA music scene. Some bands fell off, some were added in their place, we went from 6 bands to 12 and 12 to 16.

Regardless of my own lack of consistency, the fact still remains PA has one of if not THE best music scenes around. These 16 bands are some of my favorites and bands I will always personally endorse (wish I could “endorse” in a more business sense, but I’m a broke fan before anything else lol).

With that being said…many a band follow me here. If you’re not pictured here, that doesn’t mean I don’t have love for you. These bands are just some of my personal favorites music wise and my personal recommendations for anyone new to our local scene.

I will tag each band on their particular slide. If you do not follows these bands already, I strongly suggest you check them out. If you like what you hear, give them a follow and engage with their content. Tell them “JRagnarok Sent Me” in their comments!

I may have been quiet, but my mission stands firm. Support your local punk, rock and metal scene! Build up our bands so we can get their music to more people. SHARE SHARE SHARE!!

That is all.

Peace, love, beer swigs and local gigs.

@rohankeyboardist & I playing through “Reflection” (feat. @tobypeterson & Ro1)

Rohan crushed the synth for this song, he has such a creative approach to complementing the bass while still having a very distinctive voice in the song!
