6250kms* - 21 days - 15 shows - 3 school visits - 2 radio sessions - 4 provinces - 3 times through the first 3/4 of Independance Day - 1 special tour birthday - 10 members of the extended jonnie family in the van at one point or another - 1 theatre to ourselves for a late night showing of Sinners - 1 magician hustling us with card tricks for cigarettes outside a hotel bar.

Innumerable bags of cheesies/moving van aeropresses/late night card games/vitamin gummies/van naps/beautiful connections.

Too many memories to photograph, too many photographs to share here, too many dicks on the wall of the Starlite Room green room.

0 bad shows, 0 bad days.

Let’s do it again, okahay!

Take me back to London!

Found this pic that @ben.alogue snapped of me playing a 70s Fender Jazz at @notomguitars when we met up in the UK during my tour with @starnaudband last year. Can’t wait to get back out on the road and overseas again! Truly one of the great joys of being a musician.

Dear pals—

I’ve been absent

Before going MIA, I shared with y’all that I was heading to a meditation retreat where I’d be actively meditating in silence for 10 days, cut off from all communication with others including those I shared the course with. There were many beautiful things to come out of this experience but within that 100 hours of meditation, my brain forced me to break down walls of heavy dissociation for the first time in my life, I was met with the intensity of repressed memories and relived hard moments of trauma.

It has been a rough few months of keeping myself above water and untangling the ways my brain has been severely impacted from this trauma from a young age. I have felt lower than ever, angrier than ever, embarrassed, childish, and unable to function fully in my day to day. Music has been too sensitive and emotional for me to touch so I’ve been pouring all of my free time into shooting and trying to see beauty in little moments. I’ve been working with a therapist to stabilize so I can begin processing and it turns out the only way to get to the other side is through all of the mess.

My relationship with social media has always been a bit broken and now, I am feeling a strange tension between wanting to share vulnerability, seek understanding and disappear online. I have shared little truths about my experience with ptsd in the past from a framework of wanting to be a support system for anyone who related but now I have no capacity to hold anything other than my tenderness which makes the sharing feel like trauma dumping into the void.

I don’t want to look back at this chapter in my life and pretend it didn’t exist and I don’t want to use all of my energy pretending to be something or someone I am not right now. And so with the advice of my therapist, instead of trauma dumping all of my pain and stories into a book and distributing it through my community so that everyone I come in contact with will understand the complexities of my mental wellbeing (as enticing as that sounds) I am going to try and celebrate the little things and be a bit more honest about what’s happening around them.

I don’t normally share this much about my wedding story or these photos, but in honour of the 29th of February I wanted to tell our story and add a little counterweight to the overwhelmingly pressured narrative of a “perfect proposal” when that’s not what everyone wants!

Do what’s right for you 💕

We got married at @loveatlambeth took our photos in Brockwell Park with the lovely @tasminmayphotography and then went to the Trinity Arms pub for drinks! It was a hot, windy, perfect joyful secret wedding!

And the following year we used the money we saved on the wedding for a 3 week road trip in California to celebrate our 10 year anniversary!

Who was the original Daydreamer bride? Well, it was me!

When my partner and I decided on our intimate Brixton wedding, I couldn’t find a dress that felt suitable for eloping to the pub that also felt special enough for my wedding day and wasn’t unethical. As a sustainable fashion designer the idea of buying a cheap high street knock off made in poor conditions by underpaid workers felt like totally the wrong vibe for my wedding day.

So I made my own dress, and when I shared pictures of it afterwards I couldn’t believe the number of women who contacted me saying how much they loved it and how underserved by the traditional bridal shopping experience they felt.

I knew there was a community of brides out there who want to feel special and amazing on their wedding day without turning to fast fashion or trussing themselves into an uncomfortable corseted dress. And so The Daydreamer Bridal was born.

My dress is custom Daydreamer Bridal. A similar dress is around £1800 made to order and I’m booking for September 2024 onwards.
