Day 1 filming is complete! 🎬

What a fantastic day we’ve had on set with an absolutely brilliant team of people. Filming is going really well and we’re more excited than ever to be making John Boy, we can’t wait to show it to you all once it’s done. ☺️

That being said, we do still need some help to get this movie finished. We have raised over 50% of our target for post production but we still need £2,200 to hit our £5,000 goal.

Please consider backing our film by donating if you can (every penny really does help us), and if you can’t donate then please hit the share and repost buttons to help us spread the word!

You can find out more about the film and donate here:

Once again a big big thank you to all of you who have already donated, shared, and shown your support!

Introducing our cast!!

The brilliant Bon Cooper will play our lead role, ‘John Boy’ - Bon has already been in ‘Lord of the Flies’ (BBC), a feature film called ‘The State of Us’, and the wonderful ‘God of Mischief’ short film that is currently making huge waves on the film festival circuit.

Kathryn Georghiou, our writer/director, is a seasoned screen actor and will take on the role of ‘Mum’.

The real John Taylor will play the role of ‘Dad’, with Lydia Kay and Adam Reilly playing ‘Sarah’ and ‘Paul’.

Lastly, Michelle Huirama will play Bon’s primary school teacher, ‘Miss Cheryl’.

And that completes our cast!

If you want to find out more about them then head over to our crowdfunder page where you will find their bios and links to their IMDB pages.

And if you have any money to spare please donate to our crowdfunder to make sure we can make ‘John Boy’ a reality. You donations will go towards finishing our film and ensuring we can show it to the people that need it most.

Do you know the difference between a Director and a Director of Photography?

The Director guides the narrative and performances, the Director of Photography (DP or Cinematographer) turns those ideas into stunning images. From lighting setups to camera movement, together they work to build the visual atmosphere that brings a story life.

And tomorrow, we will introduce you to ours. So stayed tuned.

In the meantime, please hit the repost and share buttons to help us spread the word about our film and our crowdfunding campaign: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/john-boy-short-film#

Thank you! ☺️

Why tell the story through the eyes of a child?

It is important to show the full impact that domestic violence and abuse has and how it can impact survivors. We often see domestic violence spoken about with regards to women and girls, but this issue is much larger and more complex than just that.

With our short film John Boy, we intend to bring attention to these areas as well as raising awareness of domestic abuse and violence as a whole. We will also be creating an awareness pack to go with the film that will contain information, resources, and ways to reach out for help.

Please do keep showing your support for our crowdfunding campaign by liking and sharing our posts, and sharing the link to our crowdfunding campaign which you can find in our bio.

Together, let’s do better. ❤️

Violence against women and girls happens so often these days that something must be done. The problem is too big to ignore, and too important an issue not to speak out on.

Things need to change.

Home should be the place that is safe.

That’s one of the reasons it’s so important for us to make this film, to show the effect of this violence through the eyes and perspective of a child, and to use creativity to speak out and try to help those who need it.

Please do keep on sharing and supporting our film, we are so very grateful, and if you are able to donate to help us fund part of the process then we thank you deeply. ☺️
