It’s been a journey to say the least! After just over a year since joining the Barbell Club in February 2025 and after now 200 sessions, I’m 6 weeks into a controlled shred with another 7 to go before a photoshoot 📸 and a trip to a Luxury Villa in Crete! ☀️

What a difference a year makes! Consistency and discipline has been key but I’m not there yet with everything I want to achieve. Weight and % Body Fat are heading in the right direction though as well as overall strength 💪🏻😊

Let’s see where I end up! Huge thanks to @the_barbell_club_ne and @ben_barbellclub for getting me this far as well as everyone in my 7.00am Sunderland crew ☺️💪🏻

77lb down. Built up, not just stripped down. 😮‍💨

Hope started like so many do.

A lifetime on the larger side. No structured training. No real nutritional education. Vegetables were basically mythical until her twenties. Health and fitness felt like something other people did.

Then adulthood crept in.

Active job swapped for a desk.
Long commutes.
Eight hour shifts without leaving the desk.
Stress up. Movement down.

The weight climbed.

At some point you have to ask the question.

Are you actually happy living like this?

That was the turning point.

Not a 12 week shred.
Not a detox.
Just gradual lifestyle change.

Steps first. From almost nothing to daily movement.
Then structured training.
Then learning protein.
Then building routines.

Over time the weight came off.

But here’s what matters.

The last 12 weeks didn’t create this transformation.

They revealed it.

Refinement only works when foundations are strong.

The last 12 weeks were precise.
Calories tighter.
Protein non negotiable.
Steps relentlessly consistent.
Training sharp.

No extremes. No panic. Just execution.

This phase only works because of the years underneath it.

20,000 average daily steps.
Rarely missed sessions.
Targets hit even when progress slowed.

That isn’t motivation. That’s standards.

And none of this comes easily.

She has grafted for every pound. Every visible change. Every improvement.

Up at 5am. Walk before work.
Hour commute. High level job.
Walk at lunch.
Commute home.
Walk to the gym.
Barbell session.
Walk home.
Cook. Life admin. Bed by 9.

Repeat.

Week after week.
Month after month.
Year after year.

You don’t choose what your body requires to change.

You choose whether you live at the standard required to change it.

Hope did.

Seventy seven pounds lighter. Stronger. Fitter. More disciplined.

The last 12 weeks just uncovered the years beneath them.

This isn’t a diet.

This is a life rebuilt properly.

By a proper grafter. 💪🏻

3 units 1 community 🖤...what and absolute privilege it is to be able to do this

For the last 14 years since starting out we have hosted countless events over the years generally 6 main events and around 5 photoshoots each and every year

Yesterday we had our first main one of the year.

Nights/days out, strong events, carnage games, big hikes, power lifting meets, test days, monthly challenges, birthday balls, photoshoots, villa retreats, tough mudders, charity events, meals out, seminars and all the ones what aint popping into my head

Crazy to think we can get the everyday people to go outside their comfort zone and do something they never thought they would

When people sign up with us its the whole general...”lose a bit of weight and get fitter”

Unbeknown to them that they would end up doing things like this

It is truly an honour to watch people to do this...put smiles on faces, buzzing for weeks on end, asking...”when is the next one”, getting to hear their stories, stepping in front of a camera and making ever lasting friendships with each other along the way...hey theres even been a few marriages and babies along the way from all this starting out

Can’t thank everyone enough for all the memories created...one of our members just posted and said it best

“Came for the fitness. Stayed for the friendships.”

Mark 52 inspired by his son after a few remarks which fuelled the fire for him to sort himself out   All fun and games when it comes to a bit of family banter  
He’s tried everything fitness classes, running and nothing really worked  
Nutrition…didn’t have a clue that he could eat more than he thought   He’s absolutely cracked reet on  
Strength through the roof, looking lean AF and a new found love of weightlifting  
We’ve showed him what to do in training and nutrition and the man is looking slick   C’mon 52…not bad at all eh? 
Oh and Mark didn’t do anything like our Shred, he just followed along to the simple nutrition guidance and we said with a 1 weeks notice “fancy doing a shoot” and he did

26lb down, stronger, more confident and empowered.

Busy mam and business owner Lisa 51 dropped 26lb and got photoshoot confident through our Barbell Club programme.

Lisa didn’t start her journey with the goal of doing a photoshoot.

Most people never do.

She wanted to get stronger, feel better, improve her health and build a more resilient body to help her better handle the physical demands of her job.

10 months down the line and she’s done all that and more.

Her strength has gone through the roof. She’s built muscle, but most importantly she’s built confidence.

Confidence in her body to perform. Confidence in her own skin.

And most importantly, confidence in her own ability to change her body.

Lisa didn’t do the shred just for the pictures.

She wanted to prove to herself that she could see it through.

It’s a massively challenging process, and getting all the way through it is a huge milestone that shows real mental toughness and resilience.

Now she has built the habits and, most importantly, the knowledge to understand what is required to change her body.

Once you know that, the power is in your hands, and that’s all anyone can ever ask for.

More important than all of this though are the improvements to her health.

Facing medical intervention if she didn’t make changes, she has completely turned things around, improved her health markers and avoided needing weekly medication.

That is a life-changing result and something she should be incredibly proud of.

Well done Lisa.
