Celebrating the launch of NZ Design Week 2027 last night at Lexus. This year’s theme is Restore and Reimagine. It challenges us to consider how design can create more value from the resources and knowledge we already have. New Zealand has traditionally relied on primary industries and tourism for export growth, and design represents another significant economic opportunity. Our creativity can travel globally creating commercial opportunities without relying on natural resources. Congratulations to Jen Jones and the New Zealand Design Week team for building a platform that showcases our creative talent and contributes to economic growth. Thanks also to Lexus New Zealand for hosting last night’s launch and committing to another three years of partnership. With nine days of events, a two-day conference and an impressive international speaker lineup, 2027 is shaping up to be a fantastic programme. Tickets are now on sale! #NZDesignWeek #Design #CreativeEconomy #NewZealand #Innovation Human Digital Winnings NZ Nonfiction

Most brands are asking the wrong question when it comes to influencers. It is not “how do we use them?” It is “why would their audience care?” In this episode of Canned, Steph and Ben unpack what actually makes influencer marketing work, from choosing the right creators to understanding where they sit in the funnel. They get into why alignment matters more than reach, why one-off campaigns rarely deliver real impact, and why the best results come from long-term partnerships that feel real, not forced. Because you are not just buying content. You are borrowing trust. Episode 35: Influencer Marketing is out now. Account Based Marketing is not a campaign. It is a way of thinking. Most ABM efforts fail because they focus on execution before understanding. More tools. More activity. More noise. Real ABM starts with clarity. Who matters. What is changing. When to engage. When not to. We just published a new piece on why ABM works best when it is treated as a mindset, not a marketing tactic. Read the blog. Link in bio. #B2BMarketing #AccountBasedMarketing #ABM #MarketingStrategy #HumanDigital #B2BGrowth #MarketingLeadership #TechnologyNeedsUs

Most loyalty programmes are not building loyalty. They are just bribing customers to come back. In this episode of Canned, Steph and Ben unpack what loyalty actually means and why so many brands get it wrong. From points and tiers to subscriptions and status, they explore the difference between real loyalty and the kind you have to pay for. They get into why customers stay, what makes a brand genuinely irreplaceable, and the question every marketer should ask. If you removed your loyalty programme… would anyone still choose you? Your budget isn’t the problem. How you’re using it might be. The new episode of Canned the Marketing Podcast just dropped, recorded live at the B2B Marketing Conference in Auckland. If you’re working with limited resources, this one will hit close to home. Before asking for more budget, look at what you already have. Your customer base. Your networks. Your partnerships. Most teams are sitting on more value than they realise, they’re just not activating it properly. Because doing more with less isn’t about working harder. It’s about focusing on what actually moves the needle. In this episode, Ben and Stephanie are joined by Fiona Tiamana and Anna Henwood to unpack how to prioritise the right work, make smarter decisions, and drive impact with small budgets and big expectations. Episode 32 is out now. Link in bio. . . . #cannedpod #marketingpodcast #b2bmarketing #marketingstrategy #marketingleadership #brandstrategy @humandigitalcom

Marketing is not just promotion. And it never has been. In this episode, Steph and Ben go back to basics and unpack the 4Ps of marketing: product, price, place and promotion, and why they still matter more than most people realise. They talk through real examples, from Aesop to Apple, and explain how pricing shapes positioning, how distribution changes perception, and why product is the foundation of everything. It is a reminder that marketing is a system. If one piece is off, the whole thing feels off. If you have ever had to explain that marketing is more than “just ads”, this episode will feel validating. “We help marketers be brilliant.” That’s the mission of the Marketing Association. In this episode, Steph and Ben sit down with John Miles to unpack what the @marketing_assoc actually is, who it’s for, and the role it plays in shaping the industry here in New Zealand. From professional development and formal learning to networking, conferences, and community meetups, they talk about how the MA supports marketers at every stage of their career. This is a conversation about raising the standard. Building capability. Backing the people behind the brands. And why having a strong industry body matters more than ever. Episode 27 is out now. Some of the strongest brands do not chase every new trend. They stay the course. In Episode 25, Steph and Ben unpack what strategy actually is and why consistency beats constant reinvention. Using @bunnings as the example, they talk about how real brands are built over decades, not campaign cycles. Clear positioning. A promise that does not change. And the discipline to evolve without losing yourself. This episode is about making choices. Knowing who you are. Knowing where you play. And having the confidence to say no, even when everyone else is chasing the shiny thing. If you are building a brand in the NZ market and thinking long term, this one will resonate. Great customer experience is easy when everything goes to plan. The real test is what happens when it doesn’t. In this episode, Steph and Ben are joined by Sarah to unpack why the strongest brands are the ones that know how to show up when things go wrong. That is where trust is built, loyalty is earned, and the brand promise is actually delivered. They get into real customer moments, service recovery, internal culture, and how customer experience is built across an entire organisation, not just one team. Episode 24 is out now. AI promised to make marketing easier. Instead, it might just be making everything louder. In this ep, Steph and Ben talk about the growing fatigue around AI generated content. The tidal wave of slop. The endless outputs no one actually asked for. And why marketers are starting to crave something more real. What cuts through next is not another auto generated asset. It is experiences. Moments you cannot screenshot. Real interactions that actually mean something. This is one moment from a much bigger conversation about where marketing is heading in 2026 and what will matter most.
