What a night! Trivia Night 2026 has come and gone, and standard rules definitely apply: the competition was fierce, the answers were questionable, and the laughs were non-stop!

Massive congratulations to the winning team, and a huge thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, brought the energy, and helped us raise funds for our school! 🏆👏

@benchwarmerbar is closing down, today is their last day of trade. This is a sad day for Oishii — Benchies is where Oishii World was born, with Liam and Locky scheming away and wondering why there’s not a ridiculously good, dry rice lager in Australia yet (don’t tell us about Four Pines, we said GOOD). Anyway, we’ve got some Oishii Black kicking around and we’re selling it to YOU, our loyal customers, for (pretty much) wholesale price today only. So get a slab, it’s good gear. RIP Benchwarmer, you will be sorely missed. Come down and sink one, pour one out, and eat a mourning hot dog for Benchies.

A cosy Izakaya with sake and beers on tap, say less @benchwarmerbar 🍶

Edit 14sept2026 - it's closing down 😭

Dined in August 2025 (omg I'm so behind with our food posts 😂 but it's a good place for a bite so it deserves a spot on the IG feed)

Despite surviving a pandemic-era opening, mounting market headwinds are forcing the West Melbourne bottle shop and beer hall to close.

While it’s too early to make any promises, owner Lachlan Jones hopes to bring Benchwarmer back in a different form one day, and plans to take the many lessons learned in this chapter forward into any future incarnations of the business.

still processing last month and the third season of @nongkrongfest 😮‍💨

8 events in 3 cities (incl. one event that was basically 3 events in 1) and i’m forever blown away by our diaspora

in case u missed it, (my) highlights include:

watching people eat fed and suku’s (perfect) jimbaran seafood their hands; amira’s closing set at sodgem naarm; yazzy and sekar’s incredible dance performace; miras’ set with addin’s sculptures creating a perfect scape; ria and keshav playing anklung with the audience; excited state’s room shaking set (and neko and cam’s unbelievable vision and execution of The Norla Dome); achieving a truly intergenerational and interactive gerhana with shadow puppets; working with irl angel bindi who helped me fulfil my dream of attending a nongkrong event; calling the pass for sydney’s finest femme chefs to raise $$$$ for MA; turning benchwarmer into a karaoke party (and being reminded that the best nongkrong moments are always the unplanned ones)

this season was a massive feat, with new challenges and endless learnings while wading through grief and i don’t know I got so lucky to have the bestest team in the entire world and the bestest community that hold us up (a special mention to the nongkrong WAGs who pull tf up so thanklessly). i am beyond proud proud proud. thank you thank you thank you for everyone who came, we hope you saw the time, love and care we put into this season and for welcoming us into your cities 💗 you make my recurring nightmares of prepping 300 serves of food and having to re-do a bump out all over again worth it <3
