Having shot a collection of rotating nuggets for the latest @mcdonaldsuk Side Missions project, @bencolson and I built this screensaver easter egg based on the classic 90’s DVD Menu. We tracked the way that logo moved and changed colour swapping it instead for a change of McNugget shape with each bounce of the wall. The sense of anticipation as it rolls to a corner for the sumptuous yet allusive double bounce is very real. Ben (who has done the extreme heavy lifting on the tech side) programmed it to work with a menu where we could change from the starry Side Missions esque background, effect McNugget size and speed and even a potential retro style juttering the movement. It now rolls on all our monitors on set when we shoot McD to keep everything on brand.

SIDE MISSIONS - A melting of minds between McDonald’s and Xbox! @archiethomasdotcom came down to shoot some BTS of the teams work. McDonald’s comes under the hottest scrutiny for its food but no AI touched it. Practical effects instead created this anti gravity, space age scenario. This is one of three BTS films, focusing this time on Moa McNuggets. We had to hover these delicious bites from a portal and suspend them in a gentle floating world. Spinning, launching rigs from my kit and phantom to slow them down brings it all together. Love and thanks to a superb team as always and everyone at Leos and McD for having us back once more ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 — Director: Scott Grummett @instagrummett Produced by Darling Films @darlingfilms_uk Exec Producers: Clare Timms @claretimms89 and Kelly Doyle Montejo @doyley Production Manager: Liz Timms and Lilly NesbittECD: Andrew Long CCD: Jason Keet @misterkeet and James Hodson Senior Creatives: Abi Stephenson & Matt Jones Agency Exec Producer: Anna Cartwright Account Director: Charlotte Crawley Senior Account Manager: Brittany Kelly Senior Brand Lead: Alexandra Martin Campaign Assistant: Martina Avolio Asst Brand Manager: Andriana Georgiou DOP: Tim Green @timgreendp 1st AC/Focus: Guy Hazel 2nd AC: Lydia Lewis Moco Op: @moulisladislav asst by James Gillet Playback: Robbie Ross DIT: Ben Colson @bencolson Phantom Tech: Jason Berman @lovehighspeed Gaffer: Steve Finberg Sparks: Rob Stewart, Sabrina Corda, Senan Flude-Fear Prop Master/Rig Tech: Louis Glickman @louis71 Rigs with thanks to Nathan Destro Art Director: Ashleigh Latter @ashleighllatter Food Stylist: Udo Reichelt-Shaurer @udo_reichelt_schaurer assisted by Olha Diachenko 1st Ad: Isusko Garcia @filmgodspodcast Runners: Fintan Power and Jim Onyemenam Work Exp: Josephine Hazel Editor: Adam Rudd @rudyard_23 of Final Cut @finalcutedit asst by Ruby Browne VFX Supervisor: Rob Peacock with superb work by Black Kite @blackkitestudios led by Phil Oldham Colourist: George Kyriacou

Yesterday launched Side Missions - A melting of minds between McDonald’s and Xbox! @archiethomasdotcom came down to shoot some BTS of the teams work. McDonald’s comes under the hottest scrutiny for its food but no AI touched it. Practical effects instead created this anti gravity, space age scenario. This is one of three BTS films, focusing this time on an epic orbit rig, wheels within wheels, motors galore, spinning to make a moco run piece of precision engineering. Instagram has once again changed its file sizes and formats so i’m having to give up on the wall. It was fun while it lasted. It’s time to share some work once more. Last week The Drum announced its top 50 OOH ads ever. This iconic McDonalds breakfast shot back in February has come in as the 23rd best ever. I’m super proud of the team and for @mcdonaldsuk @prodigiouslondon and @leo.uk.agency for giving me their trust to create iconic and delicious campaigns with them. Agency Producer: @collebiz Agent: @baileywadeltd Producer: @lvprod Food: @udo_reichelt_schaurer assisted by @0lique Digi Op: @bencolson Lighting: @samdearden
