FRUIT JUICE is returning a little earlier than usual in the year!! Because we think it’s about time to brighten things up, but also because @bene_pics is leaving soon for sunny Melbourne and we wanted to squeeze one more in before he goes 🤸🤸‍♀️🤸‍♂️

Put the Sunday 22nd February in your diary - things begin at 5pm - and join us as we pour our favourite wines along with delicious focaccias and a dance into the night 👯👯‍♀️👯‍♂️

Fruit Juice is an occasional night we run celebrating and bringing together LGBTQIA+ people who work in the industry, or who just enjoy drinking wine and having a little party. The vibes are always cute and friendly, and we welcome allies with open arms 🤗

We have another stunning poster. This one is the work of the very special @forbidden2enterwithoutsmiling, a dear friend of ours who many of you will know from the restaurant. We’re big fans of Aitor’s art and have wanted him to make a poster for us for a long time. Obviously we were thrilled when he said yes 🧡

Can’t wait to see you all!! 🪩🪩🪩

BEAUJO DAY RECAP - Early 830 start at @gordonswinebar for the first (2) bottles of the day accompanied by English breakfast but most importantly fabulous company. We then moved on to be at the opening of @bar_crispin with @aliyahswinebabble serving up some amazing juice. We then hovered back East for some English Nouveau @provisionsldn and then to @restosune where we indulged in oysters accompanied by the amazing @obora__ Nouveau. Finished things off at Blinds before headed to Kew Gardens Christmas Lights 🎄

What a day! Can‘t wait to do it all again (&better) next year!

Introducing @chateau.orlando x @cafe_deco_bloomsbury

This September Chateau Orlando collaborates with Café Deco, a bar, restaurant and wine shop opened in 2020 by @tobiasanna and the 40 Maltby Street team on Store Street in London’s Bloomsbury.

The collection celebrates several of Café Deco’s iconic dishes including fresh radishes and egg mayonnaise. I have rendered these dishes in colouring pencil, and the designs have been printed on cotton t-shirts and tote bags. We have also created two limited edition posters. A special ceramic radish brooch handmade by my neighbour Jenny Knight, a potter and artist, completes the collection.

After making a poster for Cafe Deco’s queer wine night Fruit Juice last year, it’s really nice to be doing something with the restaurant again. Although I live in the countryside, whenever I’m in the city I make a beeline for Café Deco. The elegant, buzzy and light-filled room, with its pink bar and bentwood stools, is exactly the sort of place I want to spend time in, and here is where I arrange to meet my friends for Negronis, long lunches and dinners. Anna’s simple, delicious food is the kind I always want to eat and I read her ever-changing menus with relish: a little something on toast, leeks vinaigrette, crab and chips, peach pie and cream, treacle pudding… Café Deco to me feels like a very English place to eat, but one that brings together influences from across Europe, full of colour and brightness, and this very much chimes with my vision for Chateau Orlando. This marks our first collaboration with a restaurant, and I can’t think of one I’d more like to be working with.

Discover at Café Deco and online at chateauorlando.com.

Big thanks to @carolinagrg and @federicomirata for manning our trunk show at the restaurant this week, and @tobiasanna and @bene_pics for having us!

We are looking for a new general manager to take over from the wonderful Benedict, who will be starting a new adventure.

This is an opportunity to run Cafe Deco and put your stamp on it. What is important to me is that you want to work with me (Anna) to make the restaurant the best that it can be - from welcoming in customers, providing excellent but unobtrusive service, maintaining an inspiring wine list, to ensuring that we are fostering the most supportive and inclusive environment possible.

You will also ensure operations run slickly so that the business flourishes - less sexy but as essential to ensure we run a responsible business.

We are closed on Sundays and you can expect to have 4 nights off a week in general. We like to think of ourselves as an adaptable restaurant and will always do our best to accommodate people’s needs.

If you think you’d like to be a part of this restaurant that I’m exceptionally proud of then please email a CV and cover letter to anna@cafe-deco.co.uk
