Today marks Joni’s 69th birthday and I still can’t believe she’s not here to celebrate with us. These past two months without her have been the longest. Time has escaped us, but I know only time can heal us. Ben says, “If we didn’t love Joni so much it wouldn’t hurt this badly”. And yes, he’s right. It’s true. She was our world, and we revolved our lives around her. Today especially, we remember how special Joni was to us all. Truly the strongest, classiest, most talented lady, who always put others before herself. I’m incredibly blessed to have had such a cool and non judgmental mom, like Joni. We had the best of times together; shopping, keeping up with pop culture, driving around the city together from one activity to the next, laughing over nothing, and staying up all night. She was more than just my mother, she was my best friend, and confidant. It pains me to think that I will never hear her voice again, but will of course forever cherish those memories. I’m so thankful for all the support I’ve been receiving from friends near and far, but most importantly from my husband. I would be utterly lost with out Rob. If even the bad times are good times together, I’m positively hopeful that we will have a beautiful marriage, such as my parents did. What more can I say though? Joni was simply spectacular and will forever be missed. For now, I will continue to go through the motions of grief, while clutching Joni’s iconic Clinique Aromatics perfume. - Elisabeth
