What would you like to see from this account? I have to be honest the last few years were rough. I was not myself, and I was just trying to hold on. After spending last week with my @powerathleteinc family I feel recharged. I have been programming online for a few of you, but my love of coaching is formed with connecting to athletes and watching them grow. While I currently don’t have a floor to meet you all on the benefit of social media is the ability to connect. So how can this account help you? Do you want my takes on things I like and dislike? Do you want Q&A for training, nutrition, life etc? You tell me and I’ll do my best but be careful as you know how honest I can be! I hope you all are doing well and thank @_thefalsemirror_ for dealing with me being so miserable, and to @benskutnik and @johnwelbourn for reigniting the flame. #firerises #bethehammer #eattheweak #movethedirt

GREAT COACHES CHANGE LIVES. GREAT BUSINESSES CHANGE COMMUNITIES.

Just got back from an incredible trip to Austin, Texas, for my fourth consecutive Power Athlete Coaches Collective.

First off, huge thanks to John Welbourn and the entire @powerathletehq crew for continuing to raise the standard in our industry.

Some of the best minds in strength and performance sharing ideas, research, and a common mission to become better coaches.

Proud to have Business of Strength sponsor this incredible community again.

I also had the opportunity to visit two BOS clients doing amazing things in Austin.

Crystal Heinatz at Chalk Training, who recently expanded into a beautiful new facility, and Jared and Kaitlyn at The Focus Room, who’ve created an incredible boutique personal training experience.

THIS is why we do what we do at Business of Strength.

Helping passionate coaches become successful business owners so they can make a bigger impact in their communities.

PS…We’ll be brining the BOS Retreat to Austin Sep 17/18 2027! Be there

Progress isn’t always straightforward.

Oftentimes we see motivated and determined athletes struggle with rehab because it requires a regression. Power Athlete Master Coaches @benskutnik, @thegaragegympt, and @menacedolan discuss how regressions, when applied correctly, can drive more forward progress than reaching for adaptation while moving too far outside of your capacities.

Where do I even start after this weekend? It’s been five years since I tested for my block test out at Power Athlete HQ and I’ve been hesitant to come back for a coaches collective. Mostly out of fear of not belonging. These coaches are the tip of the spear; coaches, gym owners, and PT’s. I work in the ER, lift and condition like a madman, and mostly spend time with my family. Every year when it’s been time to re-up my coaching license I don’t hesitate to, but I never make it out to the events. Life has been incredibly busy and taking an extended trip out of town to learn even more about strength training has always felt selfish. This year my wife pushed me and even bought my ticket. I can’t describe how happy I am that I did it. I’ve had several online conversations with many of the coaches but actually meeting and spending time with them was incredible. Kind, smart, witty, and they all accepted me with open arms. I laughed a lot this weekend. Trained hard as hell. And I also learned a lot. Truly grateful for all the time I spent with these incredible people. See you all next year.

Time In Texas.

Another @powerathletehq Collective is in the books.

What was it all about?

Training. Learning. Teaching. Catching up with old friends and making new ones. The world’s least impressive and most fun fishing derby.

And what emerged: clarity and connection.

There are many out there that consume, whether through intention or lack thereof.

There are fewer that take the time to connect.

To ask how you’re doing.

To ask how they can help.

To challenge you to be better.

This group is one of those.

Though I’ve been in this group for years, this one felt like we finally took the lid off the whole thing.

There’s more to come and I’m excited to be a part in the fray to bring it to you.

The call is coming from within the house.

You know that pain in your hip when you squat? The achy shoulder that pops up every day you bench? What if that had less to do with the external loading and more to do with the internal alignment?

Power Athlete Master Coaches and Sports Medicine pros @menacedolan and @thegaragegympt talk us through my intention of movement may have more influence on adaptation than intensity of movement.

Train for possibilities, not probabilities.

The stakes are high with law enforcement and first responders. Is every call going to be a big one? No. But when the big one comes through, are you going to be able to be effective? @tysonshumway lays out his approach to training and how his number one priority is to be capable in whatever situations may arise.

Tactical Athlete…emphasis on “athlete”.

If you’re wanting to run and gun, you’ve got to make sure you’ve got the “run” part figured out. As well as the jump, lift, and throw part of being an athlete. Power Athlete Master Coaches @benskutnik and @tysonshumway discuss how the responsibility starts with Academies and how they’re emphasizing physical training for a group who may not be well-versed in the field.

A successful foot chase is built on more than just hopes and dreams.

Power Athlete master coach and seasoned law enforcement officer @tysonshumway talks about the importance of hitting top speed on a regular basis. He reminds us that sprinting, like all things in life, will wither away if you don’t give it the attention it needs.
