NASCAR Naval Base Coronado returning in 2027, reflecting on an amazing year of opportunities…

Truthfully It’s been a hard year, my grandma passed from Alzheimer’s last winter, I missed out on moments with her and lots of life chasing this dream.

Some assume I’m blowing a trust fund doing this, but the truth is, this is my job and I’m scraping by. I’m not NASCAR royalty. My parents have normal careers and my dad gave up a racing dream to support us. I’m carrying the torch to prove our name could be something special in racing. Without them, YOU, and every sponsor that has ever given me a shot I don’t have the opportunity to work hard and represent my community, my hometown, my family.

It’s a cutthroat industry, many if not most are backed by family money and don’t have to decide between the gym or the sim and proposals or activations. That’s life though, and I don’t know about you but I like a good underdog story.

This dream has taught me nothing is impossible. If they can do it, YOU can. It won’t be easy, the odds are stacked against you. But you get to where you want to be not by believing you can, but by never believing you couldn’t.

With that said I am proud and excited to announce I am focusing on putting together a full time season of @arca_racing in 2027. I believe this is a great platform to showcase my talent, provide excellent value for my partners, and raise awareness for ASD on a massive scale. This is a tremendous goal, and will be very difficult. Even a like on this post helps me get closer to it!

In the mean time, I’m excited to get back to NASCAR local racing this fall with the @specialneedzcoffee and my amazing local partners highlighted all fall.

A real character builder weekend… Worked nearly 48 hours straight to put this car on the racetrack, missed @sosocal and @specialneedzcoffee, fought and developed the setup, 0.1 off pole, just for the battery to up and quit on pitlane before the race.🤦‍♂️

Just part of it I guess… thanks to the OSS track workers for their quick help getting me off track after my failed bump start with @daultona500. Embarrassing and I’m sorry for slowing the night down. Thanks to all my sponsors for their support and my friends and sponsors for coming. @sanpario.media for the photos. Rerack later this year…

Practice done and dusted at @havasu95speedway 🎲This place is super fun and low grip, feels like I have 300 more horsepower than I do in this @specialneedzcoffee RAM!! The track rewards a different driving style than I’m used to in this truck but we’re fast and having fun 😎

Almost had that one. Bummed at what could have been, but had a really fun hard race early on with some great drivers. Really excited to welcome on @best_s.t.e.p._forward and @bensonlawapc to the program.

Matthew S. Benson, Esq. is a trial attorney, Navy JAG Corps veteran, and leadership speaker who blends frontline military experience with a passion for service-driven advocacy. Matt spent more than a decade in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps representing service members across every rank and command—including Naval Special Warfare Command—and was appointed as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, where he prosecuted over 50 federal crimes.

Inspired by the sacrifice of his cousin, SOC (SEAL) Darrik Benson, who was killed in the Extortion 17 mission, Matt built his legal career around courage, accountability, and servant leadership. A former All-American athlete and professional basketball player in Germany, Matt earned his law degree from UCLA and his MFA in Film & Theater Studies from San Diego State University. Today, as a Commander-select in the U.S. Navy Reserves and a leading personal injury attorney, he speaks on the principles that shaped him—discipline, integrity, and the responsibility lawyers and leaders hold to guide others through crisis, challenge, and change.
