Truly a family affair! Bep x Di An Di. Last week we hosted our cousin @bep_kitchen formerly of @bepganyc into our kitchen and what a whirlwind week it was! Thank you, An, for bringing your joie de vivre and for all the family and friends who came to support! Anytime we host a new collab, there are always kinks to work out and usually not enough time, but all of these moments kept us on our toes and we had so much fun serving our guests! Especially the dessert cart which we will most definitely bring back! Looking forward to our next collab on May 22! Mark your calendars! This will truly be a special one-of-a-kind collab with my former mentor and friend, @hugue_joseph of @mwellshq A seafood feast to kick off Memorial Day weekend and our 8 year anniversary! Details to come!

To celebrate Lunar New Year, jewellery brand @abacusrow collected recipes and stories from their creative community. 🍊 The title — Ăn Tết — is a Vietnamese expression that translates to “eating the New Year.” “It’s used to describe not only the enjoyment of all the delicious food that marks the occasion, but also the rituals of welcoming spring,” they explain. All proceeds from the zine will go to @chinatowncdc, a community organisation working for social and economic justice for San Francisco’s Chinatown residents.  Printed on our #digitalminis.

As @thaofromtheinternet and I are at the cusp of launching our @dum_boc covid relief fundraiser for Vietnam, I’d like to share a few thoughts on how this idea comes about: This fundraiser, as Thao and I have talked about, is powered by 70% hope, 20% helplessness and 10% grief. Just like many others, both of our families and extended families are in the thick of this devastating outbreak. The name “Đùm Bọc” is derived from a Vietnamese proverb “Lá Lành Đùm Lá Rách”, which can be loosely translated to “Healthy Leaves protect tattered ones”. This is one of the core tenets in survialist Vietnamese culture. We want to do a fundraiser where we lean on the collective power of the Vietnamese diaspora to lend a helping hand for the most vulnerable folks living in Vietnam. We were inspired by the African American F.U.B.U (For Us By Us) movement, which took roots right here in New York City, when putting “Đùm Bọc” together. We’ve decided that Vietnamese food has to be a core component of this fundraiser. Food has the power to heal; food brings people together; food, in Vietnamese culture, is the language of love and of care. Who would be a better group of people to help us to do this than Vietnamese food makers and chefs living in our very own proverbial backyard of New York City. In addition to food, we also want to bring together various Vietnamese creators and entrepreneurs. In doing so, we hope to show how diverse and nuanced our Vietnamese diaspora is. Everything in this fundraiser is done by a Vietnamese person in the diaspora. It is done BY US. The donations generated from this fundraiser will go to help many Vietnamese people living in Vietnam. It is done FOR US. Hope to have you all join us!
