Life got so busy that I forgot to be on the other side of the stage 🫶🏼🩷🥹

Anybody who has seen me grow up, knows how I had dedicated my entire life to dance until 2023. When my life turned upside down. The dancer of 18 years inside me was put into an indefinite pause. The wings were cut off. The rhythm muted. The feet stunted. All that remained was a nostalgia for the ast life.

Watching #BestoftheBest on @netflix was like watching my life go by in a flash. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I had participated in various competitions and each of them is precious to me. All I remember from those days were not the prizes I won or the accolades I received but the memories I made, the people I met, the costumes I wore, the steps I missed, the lessons I learnt.

Here’s to all the dancers, current and past 💖💃🏻🪩🪷

there would be no rpc without ddn.

ever since the beginning of high school, i was completely enamored by the circuit. every day after school, i would watch the same performances again and again, trying to understand every little detail. so it was an absolute no-brainer for me to audition for sahaara when i started my freshman year of college.

best of the best almost felt like i was watching a version of myself. i was on a cali team, got to be one of the 7 leads for our set as a freshman, and we ranked 11th by the end of the season - almost making it to legends!

but on a broader level, this movie captured so much of what makes the circuit what it is: the struggle of balancing academics with team commitments, the strain that a fast-paced, high-pressure environment can put on friendships, and the overall rigor of being on a competitive bollywood fusion team. yes, the experience took quite literally everything out of me, but it also made me fall in love with dance even more and gave me the courage to pursue it.

thank you to everyone who helped bring this film to life. you told so many of our stories beautifully, and i hope i can speak for the community when i say how much we appreciate the way this film makes the circuit so digestible to all audiences. you gave people a glimpse into what it’s like to experience this world, in all its chaos, passion, and glory.
