🚌 Campaign for Better Buses in Melbourne's West

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Watergardens station carpark overflows by 8am. The bus network in Sydenham is so sparse and limited it can't be relied on to get us to the station and to work/school.

Fuel prices and traffic in the outer West are such a drain.

We need a bus network that is actually usable with frequent services that have actual timetabled connections to trains and trams.

And an expanded network that gets to more people and also connects suburbs rather than all going to the city.

We know big build projects are profit-makers for the private companies that own our public transport, expanding the bus network is not on their to-do lists. Victorian Socialists want to reverse the privatisation of Victoria’s train, tram and bus system and infrastructure. It should be free and it should be in public hands.

🚌 BETTER BUSES. BETTER COMMUNITIES. A BETTER FUTURE.

I’m proud to pledge my support for the Better Buses campaign! 💜🧡

For many people, buses aren't just another mode of transport. They are a lifeline — connecting people to work, education, healthcare, family and essential services.

As Kororoit continues to grow, our public transport must grow with it.

If elected, I will advocate for:
🚌 More frequent and reliable bus services.
🚏 Better connections between residential areas, train stations, schools and employment hubs.
🌙 Extended operating hours and improved weekend services.
♿ Accessible buses and safer, well-lit bus stops.
🌱 A stronger public transport network that reduces car dependency, pollution and environmental impacts.

Better buses mean better access, greater independence, more connected communities and better environment.

I’m supporting the @better_buses campaign. The Victorian Socialists will be fighting for public transport to be taken back into public hands, away from profiteering private companies. Public transport should be free, accessible to all, and frequently available. Tarneit in particular has such poor public transport coverage due to a combination of private developer greed and government neglect. Petrol prices are out of control thanks to price gouging petrol companies. The government’s neglect of adequate public transport is making the cost-of-living crisis worse for working-class people forced to drive. I will be fighting to change that.

Transport issues in Melbourne’s west will take centre stage at a community forum this Saturday. 🚍

Residents will have the opportunity to question state election candidates on public transport, road congestion and transport infrastructure at the 'GetWestMoving!!' forum in Thornhill Park.

The free, non-partisan forum will host candidates from several parties to discuss their transport priorities and commitments.

Residents across Melbourne’s west are encouraged to attend and have their say. Registration is required. 💬

Very happy to support the @better_buses campaign and the plan for a fast, frequent, connected grid of clean, electric buses running every 10-minutes all day, every day 🚌 🚌 🚌 #betterbuses #footscray #kingsville #maidstone #maribyrnong

The lack of fast, frequent and reliable public transport impacts everyone in Melbourne’s West, but for households with children, the toll is exceptionally high. 🚍🚏

For many teenagers, ongoing transport barriers are making it difficult to stay connected with school, community and social activities, leaving parents struggling to bridge the gap.

"Reliable buses aren’t a luxury, they’re the difference between feeling part of a community and feeling cut off from it. A community can’t grow when its people can’t reliably move around it," says Better Buses campaigner Penny.

The west has been asked to accept too many second-rate transport options for too long.

We deserve a bus network that connects our communities properly and gives people a genuine alternative to getting in the car.

I’m committed to improving our bus infrastructure and getting better access for the west.

I’m committed to supporting @foemelbourne ‘s better buses campaign.

If elected, I will fight for better buses by raising the community’s campaign at Parliament and pushing for the investment that’s has been neglected in our growing communities.

I will advocate for more frequent, reliable and connected services, including better connections to train stations, activity centres and schools and where jobs are. I will work with locals, advocates, councils and community groups to build a strong case for improvements and hold the government accountable for delivering them.

This is a continuation of my advocacy as a Brimbank Councillor, where I have already worked to improve public transport connections and ensure the west’s needs are heard.

The Victorian Greens have committed to making public transport more frequent and free, and I will work to deliver that vision in Laverton and across Melbourne’s west. I will be a strong voice for buses services that people can actually rely on every day.

We need public transport across the west, and urgently in undeserved communities like Avondale Heights.
