Why it qualifies: - Their home page: "A 100% seed oil free kitchen." - Their blog: they cook with extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, and Fera Fruit Oil in the fryer - Both picks below list no cheese, cream or butter on their own menu - Not vegan-only: a family-run California Italian spot known for handmade pasta What to order (seafood pasta feature, from their Handmade Pastas menu): - Linguini & Clams ($32): squid ink pasta, Manilla clams, baby clams, white wine-garlic sauce - Del Mare ($36): linguini, halibut, lobster, shrimp, scallops, capers, green Italian olives, cherry tomatoes, spicy tomato sauce Where: 211 Palos Verdes Blvd, Redondo Beach. Heads up: skip the other pastas. Gnocchi Peperonata has sausage with no pasture-raised claim, burrata and hot honey. The chicken pastas use "free range" chicken, not pasture-raised. Lasagna and Bolognese list "grass fed" beef and Gemelli Rafano a braised short rib, none called grass-finished, all with parmesan or cream. Carbonara di Gamberi has pancetta and parmesan cream, and Tortelloni al Limone has ricotta and cream. Butter isn't listed on our two picks, but the kitchen uses it on other plates, so ask how the sauces are finished. The sauces aren't itemized for sugar, their 2024 blog mentions a touch of chili oil on the clams, and handmade pasta may contain egg. Not stated organic. We only checked these two dishes, so confirm with staff. Save this for your next South Bay trip.
