IM 70.3 North Carolina…what a weekend! I don’t have as many pictures as usual due to my race photographer actually doing the bike portion of the relay. We didn’t even get a picture together after the race or a picture with Crista. 😂 The weather a week out from race day looked like it would be perfect. Mother Nature had entirely different plans. The warmest and driest part of the day consisted of those early morning hours anxiously awaiting the swim start. The swim is USUALLY wetsuit legal with a current assist. However, this year it was wetsuit optional. Totally fine with me. I would rather not swim with a wetsuit unless the water is cold. I’m sure there was a current somewhere but it was negated by the wind that had picked up creating a significant chop. It felt like a washing machine at times. We have been doing an open water swim most weeks depending on our schedule and it definitely helps! I survived the swim and handed the chip off to Ryan. He took off for the bike ride. I went to grab coffee and the shuttle back to T2. On our way back on the shuttle it had started to rain. Our hotel was within walking distance of transition so I went to warm up, change, and eat. Ryan was cruising along so I didn’t think I had much time left. I hurried back to transition not wanting to miss him. By this time, it was raining much harder and the temperature had dropped. I ended up waiting out in the rain longer than I had hoped. I was drenched. Ryan was having such a good time on the bike. JK! I was happy to not be biking that day. It was cold and windy. Ryan came back frozen, dazed, and confused. Just a half marathon to go…With my two lightweight jackets and hot hands I was off. It was a beautiful run course. This is definitely one of those races we will talk about for a while. We had such a great weekend with my Betty teammates/training partner Stephanie, Char, and Samantha. We were also able to meet up with several Bettys! Shout out to my training partner Crista who braved the swim start with me and survived this race!! Congrats to everyone that even attempted this race! #bettydesigns #doepicshit #bettysquad26

Kona IMWC • Run 26.2 miles 🏃‍♀️

Not a long race recap—this year was just harder! I usually pass plenty of people on the run who passed me on the bike, but this year I held steady and finished 19th in my age group.

The highlight? After I crossed the finish line, Taylor Knibb placed the Kukui nut lei around my neck! 🌺 She is the double world champion, winning both Kona earlier that day and the 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France, in September! 🏆🏆
Scroll to see her!! 🤩

Kona WC Bike • 112 miles 🌺🚴‍♀️
A little tailwind to start, relentless crosswinds to Hawi, then a headwind all the way back to Kona. Every mile was earned! At mile 96, I got my first-ever penalty 😆🤣 Three minutes in the penalty box which I used to regroup and calm down. Classic Kona weather—past years spoiled me! Grateful for safety, endurance, and no mechanical issues. Thank you to all who prayed and sent well wishes!🙏🏼

Such a tough pill to swallow, and definitely some tears shed. 💔 After months of training, I was heartbroken not to be feeling 100% and having to make the tough decision not to race yesterday.

What made it even harder is how much I absolutely LOVE this race!❤️ This would have been my 4th time racing here and my 14th 70.3 IRONMAN! There’s just something so special about this race that keeps bringing me back year after year.

A huge shoutout to Sami, the race director, who pours her heart and soul into making this event spectacular every single year! And to all the incredible volunteers who show up with endless energy, enthusiasm, and excitement—you truly make this race experience unforgettable! ❤️

Although I wasn’t able to race, seeing all my amazing Betty teammates was definitely a bright spot! 💗 Huge congratulations to all these BADASS women who showed up, pushed through, and conquered some absolutely brutal conditions—cold temperatures, pouring rain, and relentless wind! 🌧️💨💪 You ladies are TOUGH!

I couldn’t be prouder of these strong women or more grateful to be part of and represent such an incredible team! Once a Betty, always a Betty!💕

Sometimes the hardest part of racing is knowing when NOT to race. The disappointment is real, but so is the gratitude for this sport, this community, and the journey.

Onward and upward! Next stop: Chatty 70.3 — May 16th!🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️🔥

I may have got caught in the storm ⛈️ on my ride home, but sometimes those nights make for the best sunsets. Pretty sure fall gravel riding might be my favorite 🍁 #gravelgrinding #cyclist #gravelbike #cycling #autoimmunehealing
