The first Beverage Lab courses are announced…and we focus on sake to start (wine programming coming soon)! I will be teaching two sake courses starting in late spring. The first is a new BEVLAB concept called Sake Basics & Beyond. It’s a ‘level 1.5’ course that tackles all aspects of sake, including what it is, how it’s made and styles, geography, Japanese culture and we’ll even discuss international sake making. The textbook is going to be colourful (a la Sake Scholar course) and filled with infographics (my favourite), and the course promises to have some spectacular sakes to try over one intense sake-filled day. The second is @wsetglobal Level 3 Award in Sake, a course I have had the great pleasure of teaching since 2016. This challenging course hones your blind tasting skills, provides you with a more advanced understanding of the various choices brewers have in crafting sake, and (yes!) we taste A LOT of sake to get you prepared for the exam. For more detailed information on both courses, check out my link in bio or visit bevlab.ca.
