“The pendants help break it down into smaller, more intimate moments.”

Discover our conversation with Esther Bentvelsen, an architect from the Amsterdam-based office Beyond Space. We covered topics such as the narrative lighting provides, as well as how it guides movement and emotion through a project.

🟩 Reallife snippets van @glue.amsterdam. Geen muziek, alleen puur geluid! We startte bij Vitra. Toen naar het Stedelijk (Kho Liang Ie, later meer). Daarna VOS Design in Amsterdam! We wonnen de ‘Independent Practice - For sustaining a clear point of view when time and means remain stubbornly finite.’! Thanks @beyondspace.eu

Schiphol Airport: inrichting PRM-gebied (persons with reduced mobility).

Een ruimte met speciale voorzieningen voor reizigers die minder goed ter been zijn. Bestaand design, aangepast aan hun behoeften en volledig volgens de strenge Schiphol eisen.

I.s.m. Beyond Space en Issos.

Arco x @nieuweinstituut
For the latest Circle event, Arco welcomed a group of architects, designers and other creative professionals in Winterswijk.

We shared our story, our ambition and our craft. Because it's one thing to talk about craftsmanship, another to show it.
Thank you to everyone who traveled all the way to Winterswijk, and to het Nieuwe Instituut for bringing the group together.

Schiphol Airport lounge in Amsterdam was brought to life by Beyond Space, inspired by the early works of Piet Mondrian. The result is a composition of curved and straight lines in which form and environment begin to dissolve into one another. Our Iris pendants are scattered across the upper floor.

Most offices play it safe underfoot. This one didn't.

Custom green seamless floors. Each one considered. None of them neutral.

When the brief gives you permission to be specific, the floor stops being background.

Reimagining its headquarters in Zug, Switzerland, sustainable construction company @holcim.ltd creates a living showcase for its circular principles, unveiling a future-focused, low-carbon workspace designed with @beyondspace.eu and @fritschibeis.

The project combines flexible workspaces with integrated planting and passive climate-control systems, aiming to demonstrate how offices can lead with material innovation while reducing carbon footprints. Unifying the campus is a “green lane,” a 180-metre “vegetated artery” that links every office space, while also acting as a social spine and informal meeting space.

Construction has started on Sluisbuurt 1B in Amsterdam!

We collaborated with @beyondspace.eu on Sluisbuurt 1B, a mixed-use residential building in Amsterdam's new Sluisbuurt neighborhood on Zeeburgereiland.

Conceived as a “stacked neighborhood,” the project brings together 228 apartments, of which 80% are dedicated to social housing, alongside a community center, work units, retail, shared amenities, and public spaces. Three residential volumes rise above an active double-height plinth, with brick color, façade rhythm, and detailing giving each part its own character.

Above the plinth, residential clusters support different ways of living. Family homes are located near the courtyard and outdoor play areas, homes for older residents are placed along generous galleries and a shared living room, and apartments for young professionals and single-person households connect to the collective roof garden and shared indoor spaces.

Shared spaces are placed along the building's natural routes, creating easy points of contact close to home while preserving space for rest and retreat.

Together, these residential and public spaces allow Sluisbuurt 1B to offer more than affordable housing: they support a community that can grow alongside the new neighborhood.
