As we conclude Black Breastfeeding Week, we want to leave you with words of encouragement to carry with you throughout your breastfeeding journey. ✨ Breastfeeding builds a special and unique bond between you and your baby. ✨ Just as seasons change for nature, your milk will adjust for baby’s development. You are mother nature. ✨Your milk is not only food, but medicine. It reduces the risk of many ailments. ✨When you feed yourself. You feed your baby. Eat good and eat well, mama. ✨ It’s okay to not to to have it all figured out. Asking for support on your journey is such powerful self advocacy. ✨No one has to understand when, why, or how your journey looks the way it does. Every effort you put forward is purposeful and leaves a positive impact. ✨You are continuing a historical tradition. Shoutout to you for keeping it going. Keep going. ✨ Kicking off Black History Month in the most powerful way—teaching Afrofuturism in Birth Work in Cleveland, Ohio with some of the most brilliant minds! The weekend was nothing short of transformative. A huge thank you to my mentee Errin for calling on me to come out and pour into my Cleveland babies @all.our_babies, as well as treat us to an Alvin Ailey show (much appreciated and an experience to remember.) To my partner, @guidinglite_midwifery, who stood beside me, loving on the students just as deeply—your presence means everything. And to my divine mentee, @thebirthhomie, my birth homie in Cleveland, your support during this training was invaluable. I see you, and I appreciate you! 💙✨ From the dedication to the honoring, the certificates, and even the dancing, this experience reminded me of the art in birth work—the way we move, heal, and build within our communities. Even honoring our training baby, Ricki!
