Our first meetup takes place at Delaware Park, where we'll work together to remove invasive plant species, learn a little about local ecology, and hopefully make some meaningful connections along the way. Think speed dating, but slower. Outdoors. With dirt. 4 weeks with Gus ❤️ An unexpected addition to our family that we simple adore! 4 weeks ago, Gus appeared at Mike’s workshop near Delaware Park, @bfloparks. After contacting the shelter, SPCA and posting publicly, we realized Gus had probably been alone or abandoned for some time. In the past 4 weeks, Gus has gotten a name, a home, 3 new furry siblings, A LOT of love and treats. He is learning to go to the potty outside and that his cat brothers are not as playful as he is. Gus has a whole new life! Our best guess is that he is just over a year or so, and some sort of pit bull terrier mix (DNA test has been ordered), but we know that he is a ball of joy, energy and love. The day he came home, very skinny, covered in dirt and burrs stuck to his hair. He got a haircut and a few baths that day. Later that same day. After a bath and shave, we got him to the vet ASAP, just to make sure he could be in the home with the other pets. He got a clean bill of health - no tick bites, no fleas and everything else in good condition. At this time, I nicknamed him “Razzle Dazzle” and he learned how to “sit” on command while we waited for the doctor. One week after finding him and the day he got his official name - Gus ❤️ as well as a name tag and a new collar. He has brought a new energy to Toby, who is approaching 10 years old. And provided a “tug of war” companion. The only photo of the 4 of them together, possibly for the first and last time, but only time will tell.

Yesterday at the Olmsted Open, I had one of those moments that reminds you why being involved in this work matters so much. I ran into the legendary Ms. Florence Johnson. Ms. Florence has been a tremendous force in our city and a longtime champion of Buffalo’s parks. She has dedicated years of her life to protecting, preserving and advocating for the Olmsted park system leaving a legacy that all of us who care about Buffalo get to build upon. At 88 years young, she is still walking through the park. Still showing up. Still loving these spaces. As a Trustee of Olmsted Parks Conservancy and Chair of the Giving & Awareness Committee, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to learn from women like Ms. Florence who came before us and helped pave the way. We sat together on a beautiful day, looking out at our favorite tree and just talked. Sometimes the most meaningful moments aren't at a big event. Sometimes they're sitting in the park with someone whose legacy is woven into the very place you're sitting. What a gift. #OlmstedParks #BuffaloParks #Legacy #Legends

Champions on both sides. 🏆🏆 My team took home the Men’s Olmstead Open, while the @theladylinksofbuffalo took home the Women’s Olmstead Open. Full circle moment for me — this was my first time competing in the Olmstead Open since winning the Junior Championship back in 2010. 15+ years later, I’m back competing, building, coaching, and helping grow the game in Buffalo. And seeing the Lady Links come out on top makes it even better. And congrats to my bro @wise.swings for winning the Men’s Long Drive…it’s a cheat code having him on the team.
