This 2016 Topps card of outfielder Brandon Guyer was one of two I acquired via purchase, more specifically from the PastPros website. While I'm not the biggest fan of the practice of parting with money for private signings, I did it to try out their site and because I'd at least be sure they were legit autographs.

Brandon played in seven MLB seasons (2011-12, 2014-18) for the Rays and Indians, winning an AL pennant with the latter in 2016 and hitting .250/.339/.388 with 32 home runs, 137 RBIs, and a 5.4 bWAR in 517 career games. But above all else, the biggest stat and tool he was known for was his propensity for getting hit by pitches, having been plunked 85 times in his career and leading the league twice with outrageous numbers.

Rays game < Rays game + Field Passes 🔥⚾️

Up close and personal 👀 The boys got to see the big show from a whole different perspective and witness the hard work, dedication, and grind it takes to make it there.

Big shoutout to the guys who came over, talked to the boys, and gave them some inspiring advice. 🙌🏼 And a huge thank you to the staff for making them feel extra exclusive 😎 They were LOVING it!

These are the moments they’ll remember. ❤️⚾️

And of course, thanks to the guy who made it all happen — the real MVP! 🐐 @enyelde

Want to become an elite athlete? Listen up.

@bguyer5 talk so much about this and much more.

Alcaraz quotes:

“As I said before the tournament began, my goal was to come here, compete, and play this kind of match, while staying healthy”

“I was close, very close. That’s why I won’t feel disappointed about not having won in the end. I’m simply happy and proud of myself, of how I fought throughout the entire match”

“After the third set, I was really physically tired, but I found a way to push through and keep demanding more physically from myself to give a little extra”

“In the fifth set, I started to feel better and better, but I was playing against one of the... He’s a beast. Shelton is an incredible player, very powerful. He knew how to play really well in every situation, so he deserves all the credit”

“But I’m leaving the court happy. I’m leaving with a smile
and staying healthy, and that’s exactly what I needed”
