Well the time has come for me to sit down and write this post. This isn’t like any other meet recap that I have ever made because this meet was unlike any I have ever experienced in all of my 8 years of powerlifting. No one goes into a 9 week prep expecting to bomb out.
These past weeks, I felt every emotion possible knowing this could be my last time on a collegiate nationals platform.
I gave everything, balancing nursing school, working full time, taking care of my body, and showing up every single day. So walking away knowing I still failed… hurt more than I can explain. From walking off the platform rejoicing that I had just broke my own American record bench, ready and feeling so good to deadlift, then turning around and going for my third pull knowing that I had one last opportunity to get in the meet and stay there was one of the scariest feelings that I had felt in a while. I have never in my life bombed out, ever. Bombing out had never crossed my mind until I realized that I had one last opportunity. But in that heartbreak, I was met with so much love, from my coaches, teammates, and even strangers. I’ll never forget the words:“Successful athletes aren’t the ones who win everything all the time, successful athletes are the ones who lose and still choose to stand back up and get back to business.” People fail. Even winners lose. And that’s okay.
To those who celebrated my loss, I’ll pray for you. But your voices don’t outweigh the love I was shown, even from competitors like Joy Li—thank you.
I truly believe God is working for something greater, even when I don’t understand it.
I gave myself time to grieve, then I stood back up and cheered on my team because that’s what we do.
This is my New Orleans 2026 Collegiate Nationals dump.

This is not the end.

going into this CNATS had to decide whether compete 44 or 48. I have to say right now that was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. Coming in my freshman year I was a 44. it was a constant struggle to keep my weight down but still improve my lifts. last year at CNATS I placed 4th, I knew it how much my numbers have grown that if I were to be a 44 again this year I could win. along side with that I had to decide if winning was more important than my physical health. ultimately I decided to go 48. going in knowing that I didn’t have a chance to medal was honestly really devastating. I had to take a step back and look at why I was lifting if I couldn’t win. then it hit me I’m lifting to glorify my God. he’s the reason I wake up in the morning, the reason I get to lift in the first place so lifting for him is the only option. I may not have got in the place I wanted but I will be back, and i will be better.
