POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I'll turn 60 in two weeks. 🎉 And this year alone I've admired icebergs in Greenland; gone snowshoeing in Norway; twirled on Bahamian sands; run on an airstrip in Kenya; hiked a caldera in Japan; steeped in a wine-infused "barrel bath" in Spain; and chased waterfalls in Guyana.

So it won't surprise you that I think travel in mid-life can be as active and adventurous as you want it to be! I'm eager to share my thoughts on how our relationship with travel, adventure, and ourselves evolves over time at the Black Travel Summit in Milwaukee, next Saturday, October 17, when I'll join fellow adventurers Sandy Curtis, @bicycle_nomad and @travelingblackwidow on a panel led by @roadscholar's Kelsey Knoedler Perri. "Seasoned, Seen, And Still Exploring: Traveling As We Age" will celebrate the idea that getting older doesn’t mean the end of adventure. In fact, it can liberate us to finally choose our own! For tickets and more information, visit BlackTravelSummit.com. See you soon!

SOME PEOPLE EXPLORE HISTORY. ERICK RIDES THROUGH IT.

If you've been rocking with Black Travel Summit, then Erick Cedeño needs no introduction.

You watched him become one of the FIRST winners of the @blacktravelfilmfestival . You've seen him grace our stage as a Keynote Speaker. And through the years, we've watched him continue to explore, document, preserve, and amplify the stories of Black heroes across this country.

Known as @bicycle_nomad , Erick is an adventurer, storyteller, historical explorer-and most importantly, a legacy preserver AND builder.

He has traveled through 49 U.S. states by bicycle, using adventure as a vehicle to uncover stories often missing from the traditional American narrative.

He retraced the Underground Railroad.

He took on the historic 1,900-mile journey of the 25th Infantry Bicycle Corps, following the path of the all-Black regiment of Buffalo Soldiers who rode from Fort Missoula, Montana, to St. Louis in 1897.

And as a graduate of Bethune-Cookman University, where he studied Travel and Tourism, Erick has built a life around the intersection of adventure, Black history, culture, storytelling, and the outdoors.

Now, he returns to the BTS stage for a conversation we know our community NEEDS:

SEASONED, SEEN, AND STILL EXPLORING: TRAVELING AS WE AGE.

Our stories don’t become less important with time. Our curiosity doesn’t ever have to shrink. There are still places to explore, histories to uncover, firsts to experience, and LEGACIES TO BUILD.

And Erick is living proof.

Family, welcome Erick Cedeño, the Bicycle Nomad, back to the Black Travel Summit stage!
