@kcc_shipley SAT 17th OCT // 5PM doors // £15.00 Ticket link in the bio etc 🏄‍♂️✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ Finally we’re very VERY excited to be hosting Notts double drum minimalists RATTLE 🥁🪇🥁 RATTLE is an ongoing musical project concerned with experiments in rhythm, metre and tension. Katharine Eira Brown & Theresa Wrigley make up the Nottingham duo who with just drums and occasional vocalisations weave an expanse of percussive vortices. Their songs swirl and envelop with all the physicality and drama of another world pulling together around its own shifting centre of gravity. The drum beats phase and sidestep, they trade accents and overlap, providing a suitably alive terrain for the vocals to explore similar tendencies of pattern. Rattle’s debut album was released in 2016 through Upset The Rhythm / I Own You and was greeted with much critical praise, this often singled out their hypnotic minimalism and ecstatic regard for the dance floor. The following six months saw Rattle support Animal Collective on their UK tour before heading out around Europe with The Julie Ruin. Rattle have also toured with Protomartyr and played concerts with Bill Orcutt, Hot Snakes, Thurston Moore and Codeine. The duo formed quite by accident in Nottingham in 2011, where Katharine and Theresa knew each other from playing in other local bands. Katharine was a guitarist who had recently started playing drums in the band Kogumaza and Theresa is the enthralling drummer from Fists. They originally met up to skill swap guitars and drums but soon enough they found they were having more fun with a double drum set-up and started making the sound of their first song ‘Boom’, which became a blueprint for their new band’s sound. As Katharine explains; “It seemed obvious right from the start that nothing else was going to be required in terms of instruments.” They wanted to find a band name that was onomatopoeic and Rattle fit perfectly. Their set-up remained roughly the same as from that very first rehearsal. The minimal framework meant that they had to use their imagination and think of different ways to create new songs using the same simple ingredients. They honed their sound live, with the drums set

What started off as a heated carousel of chaos conversation with a telephone robot to my utilities provider turned into a dystopian kitchen sink script and then in turn filmed with the help of minimum cast and crew and is now being screened at @leedsfilmfest. 3rd and 6th November. Mint. Here’s the burby bit: Pay As You Go is a dark, Kafka-esque comedy set in a parallel universe where everything is chargeable. From boiling a kettle to flushing the toilet, daily life is metered, itemised, and deducted in real time. Where loneliness, zero-hours contracts, and even heavy sighing come at a price. And then there’s a goldfish. Brought to life by fantastic lovely actor @richardjgalloway, first time screen actor and well funny comic @elainerobertson_. Camera and Sound (basically the entire crew) by @nikporterdop and Mark Stokes. Shot in 1 day. With 3 crew. 2 cast. 1 goldfish. 7/12 Day 3 🎶 @big____break 🎶 🎪 @marrapalooza with @p4foxes and @flatfourrecordsuk 🎪 📍 @thegrovenewcastle 📍 🗓️ Sunday 7th June 2026 🗓️ It sure was BIG with Big Break in every way that you sure had to be ready before being ready as that high energy performance had you lose control and I did for sure. I just couldn't keep up with the roaring rawness but I did freeze some moments of their fast paced set🫠 Thank you to David and Hannah for having me be part of the team🙌🏼

Here's Albert Rosenfield, the Sultan Of Sentiment himself and patron saint of WSR to say "welcome" to the pile of new followers who have stumbled on us in the last few days. This might be a good time to take you through some back catalogue gems, most of which are down to very small quantities in Joe's garage and can be grabbed right now on Bandcamp. The whole WSR back catalogue is available as downloads too and lots are pay-what-you-feel. Scroll for some recommendations.... "Get a life, punk" MYRIAD MYRIADS "All The Hits" The new pseudonym of Bass Clef, Myriad Myriads continues the minimalist/maximalist aesthetic of previous Bass Clef releases but with maybe a sharper editor's touch. Organic, instinctive electronic music that can equally soundtrack a big night out or a long solo drive through snowy mountains. FFO: Harmonia, Carl Cox, Boards Of Canada, those excellent multi-pack Dreamscape tape sets DEEP CABARET "Matchless" Vinyl reissue of self-released CD that is - straight up - one of the best records ever made. Disarmingly sincere, beautifully orchestrated and utterly free of genre shackles, "Matchless" will find a special spot in your heart if you let it. "The results are as though the deep trance of the desert has been magically transplanted to the mudflats of Morecambe Bay" FFO: Ali Farke Toure, Lankum, Talk Talk, Haress, Tinariwen, John Martyn YOUNG JAMES LONG "Orogeny" Wild, raucous rock n roll from Preston PW Long (Mule, Reelfoot), Kirkland James (Tenderloin) and Taylor Young (Young Heart Attack) that stands up with the rawest rhythm n blues of any age or locale. The only record we've released deserving of the term "badass". FFO: Junior Kimbrough, The Jesus Lizard, Mule (dur), Captain Beefheart, Edgar Broughton Band, Hound Dog Taylor. Hell, if you like The White Stripes you'll love this. (Kirkland James passed away not long after this was released. Rest in power) JOEYFAT "The House Of The Fat" and "The Unwilling Astronaut" Essential UK underground works, remastered and reissued. Joeyfat influenced everyone. They did the spoken word post punk thing when him from Nottz was still playing glam metal. Even now they're something of a ridd
