Let’s be honest: Pride weekend in San Francisco is an absolute gauntlet of choices, but if your ideal celebration involves a steel guitar and reclaiming a genre that’s spent decades trying to keep folks out, then do we ever have a concert for you.

This Saturday, June 27th, the Queer Country Hoedown is back at the Golden Gate Bandshell, and the lineup is set to completely knock your socks off. Taking back country music is a heavy lift, but these artists are doing it with zero apologies and a lot of fringe.

Opening the day is Squeakie, a beautifully ramshackle local outfit described as a massive, holy tumbleweed of melody. They’ll be followed by an extremely rare solo performance from Maria Donjacour as Lil Mar Mar—who you probably already know because she plays in basically every cool band in SF, including Med Scool.

Next up is Lizz Shine & the HRT, making the trek down from Sacramento. Fronted by the electrifying Lizz Shine, they blend rock, folk, and punk hooks with vulnerable songs drawn from Lizz’s lived experience as a trans woman.

Closing out the stage is Country Risqué, the SF honky-tonk project formed by Miles Gordon and Daniel Bromfield. They specialize in blending classic, tear-in-your-beer country aesthetics with modern, inclusive values.

While you’ll have plenty of options to choose from to celebrate the Bay Area’s immensely talented queer music community, watching a bunch of punks and weirdos turn a historic park bandstand into a queer rodeo is easily top-tier.

That’s why this is White Crate’s Show of the Week.
