K9 Recon Update: Sorry I missed that first 24 hour update. Taking in a high drive retired LE K9 for decompression takes time and attention. Ill just get yall caught up to today. Arrival 2.5 days ago went well. We introduced him to his surroundings and he immediately jumped in our pond. In fact, we cant keep him out of it, lol. Since then we've been able to integrate Nikka and Maddie over the past two days with great success. He's been enjoying his structured play time, which usually involves PT (Pond Therapy). He's especially enjoying his new playmates. The first week will be primarily structured play times to build trust and pack introductions.

K9 Recon is a sweet, intelligent, and highly driven dog. We've had no issues to report. We are happy to have him here.

JANUARY 20th 1-5pm!

Come and meet the amazing pups that reside at the Medley location. These pups don’t get to be seen like our friends at the Doral location because there aren’t enough resources available to run both facilities as adoption centres. The number of pups in need has both facilities are over capacity, with many of the pups hidden from public view.

All pups are fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and come with their “take me home” package.

Most importantly they are ready to love, play, and bring joy to any family! Let’s get these pups their forever homes!!

I’d like to talk a little about the forgotten. About the abused, too scarred, too big, too skinny, too old, too hard pups that are often over looked based on preconceived judgments on what we determine to be a “good dog”. Society has literally bred a notion that there are more desirable animals. Ones that don’t shed, have squished faces, no tails or clipped ears. Ones that cost $5000, and fit in a purse, as if they are a status symbol.

Don’t get me wrong, a pet needs to fit your lifestyle. They need to be loved and cherished and be matched based on the household dynamics and ability to care for them. Many of the pups in shelters have been abandoned or surrendered because the they weren’t the right fit. The last we want is for a pup to be returned.

What I’m asking is that we let go of stigmas, the ego, the preconceived judgments and open our heart more than our eyes. Broadening our view of what a cute, sweet, lovable companion could look like.

We don’t return our loved ones because they get scars, or get bigger, or grow old. Let’s work together to create a society that cherishes all creatures, based on their personalities not their looks.

🥳UPDATE🥳 Gus was. adopted!!
As we approach a new and exciting year, my resolution is showcase these amazing pups and find 800 dogs forever homes! It’s a big goal, and I need your help to grow my audience and extend the reach by liking, sharing and commenting on my content!! These pups deserve to be seen for who they really are so let’s get their sweet faces out there!!

This is Gus, he is just over a year old, amazing with other dogs, kids and all people. He has the sweetest demeanour, kind heart and deserves to find his forever home.

I know adoption isn’t always an option for everyone. Luckily there are so many ways that we can support the animals.

* Creating awareness by sharing, liking, and commenting on social media

* Financial donation: Look up the shelters in your area and find one that resonates with you!

* Volunteer: There so many ways these shelters provide services. Find out what works best for you!

3. Fostering: Fostering doesn’t mean adoption. You can provide a safe and loving home for a short period of time.

4. Adoption: This is a forever commitment. So if you can’t do this, but want to help, all of the above options are for you!!

I finally got to take Rufus out on a pawsventure! What a darling!! From the moment we met, it was true love! I can’t believe a pup like this is in a shelter. He is truly a special creature. He was super excited to get out for the day and explore a new park, meet new friends and show off his skills with sitting, shake a paw and so many kisses.

His peaceful nature attracted many smiles and cuddles along our journey and we know this video will demonstrate just how loveable this guy really is.

Shelter life is hard. These guys are behind glass or bars and their little spirits don’t get a chance to shine through.

The more this video is shared, liked and commented on, the more awareness of the real Rufus is raised and the better the chance that we can find him a home!

Rufus lives at the Miami-Dade Animal Shelter and all adoptions or fostering applications need to be done in person.
