If you’re planning a trip to Big Sky, Montana next summer, make sure Music in the Mountains is on your itinerary! We got to experience this free outdoor concert series during our trip in August, and it was such a fun way to spend an evening with yummy food, wonderful people and unforgettable mountain views!

Hosted by @bigskyarts, Music in the Mountains brings live music to Len Hill Park in @bigskytowncenter every Thursday evening throughout the summer. With live performances, local food trucks and lots of space to enjoy the views, it’s a great way to experience Big Sky beyond the hiking trails.

✨ When: Thursday evenings from late June through early September
✨ Where: Len Hill Park in Big Sky Town Center
✨ Cost: Totally free!
✨ Food & Drinks: Local food trucks and vendors with plenty of options to choose from. We tried the Chicken & Chorizo Paella from Taste Rozq and it was delicious!
✨ What to Bring: A blanket or lawn chairs to sit back and enjoy the music

Keep this one in mind when planning your summer 2027 adventures!

Follow @acheatdayfoodie for more food finds and travel adventures!

Last year, Día de Muertos brought the Big Sky Center for the Arts to life in a way we had hoped for from the beginning.

Our community came together to experience and learn about this meaningful Mexican holiday through music, dancing, art, food, remembrance, and tradition.

This year feels especially meaningful as Día de Muertos will be our FINAL large gatherings in the building before construction begins. We’re grateful to fill the Center one more time with a celebration we hope continues to grow and become a Big Sky tradition for years to come.

DÍA DE MUERTOS
Sunday, November 1
Noon–7 PM
Big Sky Center for the Arts
Free & open to everyone

Come celebrate! Experience the community altar, ofrenda-making, storytelling, Parade of Catrinas, food, dancing, music and more.

What a weekend.

Packed screenings. Full rooms. Big conversations. New friendships. Incredible films. And a whole lot of laughter, connection, and stories shared under the Big Sky.

To every filmmaker who traveled here and trusted us with their work: thank you. We loved having you here, hearing your stories, and watching you connect with this community.

To everyone who bought a ticket, came to a screening, asked a question, stayed for a Q&A, brought a friend, or simply showed up—we couldn’t have done it without you.

And to the volunteers, crew, mentors, partners, sponsors, artists, and community members who gave their time, energy, skills, and heart to make this festival happen: this festival belongs to you, too.

Lone Peak exists because people believe that stories matter—and because a community is willing to show up for them.

Thank you for showing up for Lone Peak. We’ll see you next year. ❤️

So excited about our latest utility wrap by @tracie.spence on the new bulk water fill station at the Huntley-Kern Pond! A huge thanks to @bigskyoa for asking for our help on this project. @the_wrap_agency did a great job with the design and install.

Swipe to see your impact in action! 🫶

We’re checking in with our spring grantees to see how your generosity is making a difference across the Big Sky community. From our rivers and schools to local families, our workforce, wildlife, and the arts, your support is already hard at work.

Big Sky Parent Teacher Organization - Cost of Living Adjustment

This is an incredibly valuable benefit, and we are so incredibly lucky to live in a place with donors who care so deeply about education and supporting the school staff. I feel valued and appreciated!

We feel very strongly about this project and plan to make the same annual commitment to the teachers and staff of the BSSD Providing a Cost of Living Allowance assists in giving our teachers a sense of financial security and assists in retention of our high-quality instructors.

52 teachers and staff members received a cost-of-living adjustment for the 2025-2026 school year. The 355 students across 13 grades (4k-12) were also impacted by supporting the sustainability of the teaching workforce.

Arts Council of Big Sky - Youth Education Initiative

Moonlight Community Foundation’s support of the Arts Council’s youth art education is critical to the program’s success, allowing us to expand offerings and increase our impact in the community.

We are serving more kids through art than ever before. We served well over 1,500 kids at our free ArtVenture activity tent during the Farmers Markets (new this year) and Music in the Mountains. Our new Art Start program for toddlers has already served more than 125 people. We offered 11 weeks of summer art camp which had 60 individual participants and 133 registrations. Our elementary after school program has had 135 registrations so far this year. Our first PIR Day full-day program in September had six kids (max 8 is possible) registered.

For our after school programs, more than 80% of parents choose a discounted rate for their child to attend.

The Big Sky Center for the Arts was honored to be a hub for meaningful conversations and connection during last weekend’s Lone Peak Film Festival. 🎥

From the Impact Lounge and Indigenous art installation to conversations around storytelling, representation and culture, it was special to see the Center filled with people coming together to listen, learn and share.

Thank you to the Lone Peak Film Festival team and everyone who joined us in the space throughout the weekend.
