Big thanks to the @csc_oregon YouthBuild crew for their excellent work at Bald Hill Farm today, repairing a rough stretch of the Oak Savanna trail!

Hey, friends! This post is for my fellow runners / joggers out there (I’ve tagged a few of you 😉) as well as those that are interested in making running / jogging a regular part of your future exercise routine. I would strongly encourage it…and I can personally attest to many of the benefits listed below.

Also, I’ve just signed up for the #blackbearhalfmarathon that is coming up (in October) in my area, and have found it really helpful to have a specific goal or event to train for, and look forward to. If you have any events / races that you are planning for, please let me know…

As promised, here are the many reported benefits of making running / jogging a regular part of your weekly exercise routine:

Benefit 1. Running adds years to your life and life to your years.

Benefit 2. Running helps you sleep better.

Benefit 3. Running can improve your knees and back.

Benefit 4. Running helps you lose weight, and keep it off.

Benefit 5. Running improves your immunity.

Benefit 6. Running improves cognitive function, and reduces cognitive decline and Alzheimers.

Benefit 7. Running reduces risk of many cancers.

Benefit 8. Running improves mental health, and reduces depression.

Benefit 9. Running improves glucose regulation, and lowers risk of diabetes and pre-diabetes.

Benefit 10. Running lowers your blood pressure.

Bonus Benefit: Running builds your self-esteem. 😀🏃‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️✌️

6AM start....thankfully the rain showed up and kept the trails pretty clear of people. It sounds mean but some days I see large groups of people at Fitton and Bald Hill. Crowded trails will be closed trails if we aren't careful. A hell of a lot of trail newbies are not following the rules right now.
