Recovery is more than what you do AFTER training.

We also need to manage what we’re asking athletes to recover FROM.

Sleep. Nutrition. Hydration. Practice. Games. Lifting. Jumping. Conditioning. Skill work.

It all counts.

At our Building the Total Basketball Athlete Seminar, we’ll break down our 100-Point Recovery Checklist, workload management strategies, and how we organize the yearly training calendar to maximize performance. 🏀📈

MEET YOUR PRESENTERS 🏀

We’ve spent decades working with basketball players—from developing young athletes to preparing NBA, WNBA, college and international professionals.

But experience only matters if you’re willing to share what you’ve learned from it.

On September 19, Wes Dunning and I are opening up the Healthy Baller system and breaking down how we approach the total development of a basketball athlete.

We’ll cover the successes, mistakes, principles and practical strategies that have shaped how we coach today.

No secrets. No random collection of drills.

Just an entire day of basketball performance training and the WHY behind it.

🗓️ 14 Weeks Post-Op ACL Reconstruction (Quad Tendon Graft + LET)

Big milestone today: first time jogging 🏃‍♂️💥

The work over the last several weeks has been all about building the foundation.

Where we’re at:
⚡ Mastering single-leg control and stability
⚡ Building quad strength and improving limb symmetry
⚡ Introducing plyometric movements
⚡ Progressively increasing training loads
⚡ Improving movement quality and confidence
⚡ Started return-to-run today ✅

Current focus:
⚡ Continue improving quad symmetry
⚡ Progress plyometrics and landing mechanics
⚡ Build running tolerance gradually
⚡ Prepare for higher-speed movement and change of direction

Every milestone in ACL rehab is earned. Today’s jog wasn’t just about running - it was the result of weeks of consistently doing the “boring” work. Now we keep building! 💪

Day in the life of a Sports Physical Therapist 🏀🥍⚽️💪

Summer has been busy in the best way! Full caseloads, earlier schedules, and more time outside!

I have been more disciplined with moving my body before and after work and I’ve never felt better!

I am so lucky to have the most supportive coworkers, hardest working athletes, and the coolest job ever 😭

I’ve also been working behind the scenes on my first sports PT mentorship cohort, and the response has honestly blown me away. I am so excited for what is to come!

Time for a Self Audit!

Ask yourself the tough questions and give yourself the honest answers!

It’ll be tough to truly get better if you struggle to think critically about what you need to level up as a basketball player.

DM me if you are interested in the questionnaire.

Before Sets & Reps...Comes This

Before every drill, every lift, and every workout...
There should be a philosophy.

Exercises are just tools. Your philosophy is what gives them purpose.

If you can’t explain why something belongs in your program, it probably shouldn’t be there.

Great athletes aren’t built by random workouts—they’re built by intentional systems.

We’re here to share our system and philosophy this fall at our Building the Total Basketball Athlete Seminar.

I hear this all the time!

I can’t train today because…

I don’t want to be sore for my skills workout today
Or,
I have practice tomorrow.

Avoiding hard training because you’re worried about tomorrow’s workout is exactly what prevents many athletes from developing the capacity they need for the season.

Before you know it, you’ve missed too many opportunities to improve your physical capacities and then it’s back to the drawing board once another coach says, “only if you were a little stronger and faster”.

Happens all the often. Mainly for those who don’t have a plan.

We’ll be covering this and more at our Building the Total Basketball Athlete Seminar on September 19th 2026.

Day in the life of a Sports Physical Therapist
• transitioning from insurance-based to out-of-network •
Part 9, Week 23 📆

It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these — time has been flying and we’ve been booked and busy!

Summer schedules are in full swing, and I’ve officially got a full caseload consistently. I’ve grown so much over the last 5-6 months at Healthy Baller, and every day brings something new to learn.

I’m incredibly grateful for the mentorship, support, and athletes I get to work with every day.

Coolest job ever!
