🚨🚨🚨Commissioner Bratton, a legend within the police service in the United States. He served as the commissioner of the NYPD 1994 to 1996 and 2014 to 2016. Along with serving as executive leadership in other agencies throughout the United States (LAPD, Boston PD, MBTAPD, NYC Transit PD). Think what you may of him, he’s apparently a watch guy as well. We’ve had the pleasure of meeting him various times during his tenure with the NYPD. One of the more down to earth executives you could ever meet.🚨🚨🚨

An incredibly impactful afternoon supporting the Police Athletic League’s important work. An honor engaging with so many law enforcement leaders including former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton, media legend and PAL director Mark Simone, and guest of honor New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin. 🇺🇸

Public safety is not political. If we don’t have safety, we don’t have a city. I’m proud to support our law enforcement community.

The West Side vagrant camp is another example of our mayor governing from the Idi Amin school of management.

History is repeating itself. Squeegee men and all. Time to vote common sense this November! 🇺🇸

Chicago voters have spoken on gunshot detection. The question is: are policymakers listening?

New independent polling by Change Research, commissioned by SoundThinking, found overwhelming support for gunshot detection in the communities most impacted by gun violence.

📊 80% of Black voters support it.
📊 78% of Hispanic voters support it.
📊 Support reaches 88% on Chicago’s Far Southeast Side—the highest level measured anywhere in the city.

Should public safety agencies share crime statistics consistently, even when the numbers are not favorable?

Commissioner Bill Bratton’s answer was clear: yes.

He spoke about the importance of openness around crime statistics, disorder, and public safety issues in both good months and bad months.

The reason is simple: the public cannot be a true partner if they are not informed or do not trust you.

Communities are often the eyes and ears of public safety agencies. But that partnership depends on trust, and trust is strengthened when agencies communicate openly, consistently, and honestly.

Sharing the hard numbers is not “owning” the problem. It is showing the community that the agency is paying attention and taking the work seriously.

Social media is not just a place to post updates.

For public safety agencies, it is one of the fastest tools available for correcting misinformation, clarifying facts, and speaking directly to the community.

Commissioner Bill Bratton pointed to the Boston Marathon bombing as an example of how quickly misinformation can spread, and how important it is for agencies to be able to respond in real time.

If your agency is not using social media strategically during critical incidents, someone else may be shaping the story for you.
