Secret #15: 199GUY LIFESTYLE PLATFORM – “S” is for SHOW UP

Show up. Stay consistent. Keep going.

The “S” in my LIFESTYLE platform stands for ShowUp—also known as Staying Power. Once you build momentum with fitness and nutrition, the next step is to keep showing up—wherever life takes you.

This collage reflects that journey—workouts in La Jolla, Las Vegas, and my home studio in South Chandler. The group photo features one of my favorite coaches, Syd, during a class supporting the American Heart Association.

And a big shoutout to my friend Ari, an Orangetheory member who has visited nearly 500 studios. His dedication reminds me that showing up doesn’t just change your day—it can change your life.

Thanks to Orangetheory’s universal workout model, I’ve now trained at 129 studios across 25 states. No matter where I go, the mission stays the same:

Keep showing up. Keep growing.
It’s NEVER2LATE.

Love in Action

In Matthew 25:35–36, Jesus says, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

These words reveal the heart of true faith. Jesus identifies with the needs of the most vulnerable and reminds us that serving others is not optional for His followers. Caring for people in practical ways—feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, or visiting the lonely—reflects God’s love and grace in action.

The passage also reminds us that our service is not about recognition or reward. Jesus’ words show that every act of kindness toward someone in need is seen and valued by Him. When we serve others, we’re serving Him. This truth shifts our perspective, encouraging us to view others with the same compassion that God shows us.

Take a moment to reflect: How can you be a reflection of God’s love today? Small acts of kindness, like checking on a neighbor or supporting a cause, can have an eternal impact when done with a heart of faith and love. #God #trustgod #faithingod #faith #trustingod #forged #aforgedlife #life #thankful #grateful #blessed #serveothers #spiritualservant #life #love

Reflecting His Love

In Mathew 25:31–32, we encounter a powerful picture of Jesus’ return. He will come in glory, with all the angels, seated on His throne, and He will separate people as a shepherd separates sheep from goats. This scene is not just about a future event—it calls us to examine our lives today.

The shepherd imagery is significant. In biblical times, sheep and goats often grazed together, but they had different natures. Sheep followed their shepherd’s voice, trusting and depending on him. Goats, however, were more independent. Jesus uses this imagery to remind us that it’s not enough to appear good on the outside—what matters is whether we are following Him in our hearts.

As Jesus calls us to reflect His love, we must ask: are we living as his sheep, obedient to His voice and showing love to others as He has shown to us? Serving others, especially those in need, is a way to follow Jesus and honor Him. Our actions toward the least of these are ultimately acts of service to Jesus Himself. To do this you must be born again (spiritually), and put your faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, and He will be your good shepherd 🙏🏾.

The Messengers of Good News

Pause for a moment and reflect on your role as a bearer of the good news. Are you actively sharing the love of Christ with those around you? Are you seeking to be a living testimony of His grace?

You might read Paul’s call to “preach” in Romans 10:14 and think this call is reserved for a pastor, priest, or teacher. But our homes, workplaces, and communities can serve as pulpits of influence when we live surrendered to Him. In these seemingly ordinary spaces, we can share the love of Christ through a listening ear that brings peace to a troubled mind, a helping hand that lifts burdens, or a word of encouragement that rekindles hope.

As a follower of Christ, you are qualified to share this hope and encourage others! What God desires is obedience and willingness to be a vessel of His Word. In the simplicity of everyday interactions, we become vessels of His love and messengers of the gospel.

As believers, we have an integral role in sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit equips you. God chooses and empowers you. And the seeds you sow, even the tiniest ones, have the power to take root and spread the message of salvation. #goodnews #gospel #jesuschrist #bornagain #christian #bible #disciple #witness #eternity #life #holiness #blessed #forged #aforgedlife #love

Deep Confidence in a Big God

Before the telescope was invented, all that was known about the sky above was what could be seen with the naked eye.

Now, thanks to advances in modern technology, we are aware of far-off galaxies, stunning nebulas, and mysterious black holes. Now, we realize that our knowledge was (and still is) severely limited.

There’s something about staring up at a blanket of stars that beckons wonder. There’s something about a watercolor sunset that invites curiosity. There’s something about standing on top of a giant rock—that’s suspended on nothing in the middle of a massively complex universe—that invites worship.

We are merely discovering what God has put here in the first place. And the more we uncover, the more we are filled with awe.

Yes, the heavens remind us of God’s majesty; the skies remind us of His splendor. But they also remind us of how big He is and how small we are. They remind us of His vastness and our limitations, and of His independence and our utter dependence on Him.

So whenever you see a star-filled sky, are stopped in your tracks by a brilliant sunrise, or read about some extraordinary discovery on the fringes of space, don’t forget to praise the One who has created and sustained it all along. #god #bible #godsword #wordofgod #scripture #faith #mercy #grace #thankful #grateful #gratitude #blessed #life #love #forged #forgedbyfire #aforgedlife

Words That Build

Have you ever been a representative for someone or something? When you belong to a group of people, or you represent someone, what you say and how you say it matters. Anything you say is a reflection of the person or thing you’re representing.

As Christians, we are representatives for Jesus. Paul says that we are ambassadors or representatives of Christ because He is no longer physically on earth ministering to people (2 Corinthians 5:20). Instead Jesus is working through His people to accomplish what He wants done on earth.

Since everything we say and do is a representation of Jesus, we need to choose our words wisely. When we use words to gossip and slander, hurt or damage—we don’t represent Jesus’ heart and character. But when our words are used to encourage someone, what we say has a lot of potential for good.

You’re probably familiar with the power words can have. Has someone ever said something to you that was painful? Or can you remember the last time someone complimented you? You might still remember how each of those situations made you feel.

You might not have been able to control what was said to you, but you can control what you say to others. So take a few moments to think about the things you’ve said recently. Is there anything you’ve said that you need to seek forgiveness for? Choose today to represent Christ and His character by intentionally speaking words that are good and helpful. #god #trustgod #truth #godsword #bible #biblequotes #scripture #wordsmatter #buildup #edify #faith #forged #aforgedlife #thankful #grateful #life #blessed #love

Walking Through Trials

Let’s start by debunking a myth: Nowhere in Scripture does God promise us a perfect life, free from troubles. In fact, many times in the Bible, Christ-followers find themselves persecuted, under attack, or facing trouble of all kinds.

In a letter from James to first-century believers, James informs them about the various trials that they will experience in life:

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
James 1:12 NIV

When we see trials as a means of becoming more like Jesus, then we’ll be blessed by them.

Maybe you can think back to a difficult season of life. Looking back, you might be able to point out how God refined you coming out of it. God is often at work behind the scenes deepening our character and enlarging our capacity, even when we don’t see it.

Maybe you’re going through one of those difficult seasons right now. Take this passage to heart! You can stand firm and persevere—knowing there is a promised reward in heaven. While rewards on this side of heaven are not promised, looking towards our final destination with Jesus gives us hope to endure the trials in the present.

If you’re walking through a difficult season of life, spend some time meditating on the promises of God. He promises to never abandon you or leave you, but to walk alongside you through trials. And at the end of the trial, you’ll be more like Christ.

Take a moment to thank God for His faithfulness and love in your life. #God #trustgod #forged #forgedbyfaith #aforgedlife #faith #stand #thankful #grateful #blessed #life #love

What are you anxious about today? What is causing you stress and anxiety in your life and keeps you awake at night?
When we find ourselves in a dark place and need Gods help, scripture tells us to “give thanks” before anything changes.
The scripture goes on to say “pray and petition God and let your request be made known to Him”, and here’s the part we don’t want to miss in this scripture, which goes on to say, “and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
The result in praying and petitioning God with a thankful heart is PEACE! Peace in your heart and mind. Because after all, what we’re all really searching for is peace. Peace in our marriage, peace in our families, peace at work, peace at school, peace with my business partner, peace at church, heck, the world has been talking about peace in the Middle East for as long as we have been alive, and yet the scripture tells us how to have peace, lasting peace.
This is completely contrary to the world’s way of thinking and dealing with stress and anxiety and the trials and tribulations that we all experience.
My encouragement to you is to get Gods word, the Bible, in you, and memorize and pray 🙏🏾 scripture over every aspect of your life and watch what happens. I know that if you do this you will find, breakthrough, hope and peace; because peace isn’t found in the absence of storms in your life; but in the presence of God 🙌🏾!!!#God #trustingod #forged #aforgedlife #faith #peace #love #blessed #thankful #grateful

Part of the Plan

In the beginning, God created everything.

Galaxies and volcanoes, fireflies and diamonds, oak trees and great white sharks. Finally, saving the best for last, He created humans in His image—to fill the earth, reign over its creatures, and cultivate a world that magnifies Him.

But even before the beginning, God was already there. He spoke time and space into existence, while existing outside of time and space. And long before you were born, He already knew all about you—your strengths and weaknesses, your successes and failures.

He knew all about you and chose to make you… because He loves you!

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10 NIV

You are God’s handiwork—sometimes translated as masterpiece, workmanship, or work of art.

You are also God’s masterpiece because of the unique spirit, personality, and gifts that have been uniquely wired in you.

Because we know that God is more brilliant than we could ever imagine, and because He loves us more than we could dare to hope, and because we know He writes great stories, we can trust what He has planned from beginning to end.

And His plan includes you. Yes, you! He has prepared good things for you to step into—meaningful relationships and impactful work. He is continually putting people and opportunities in your path, as well as working inside of you, giving you the desire and power to do what pleases Him (Philippians 2:13).

He has empowered you to partner with Him as we experience the greatest story on earth.

So as you consider how God has intentionally designed you and placed you at this specific point in history, what passions and callings has He placed on your heart? This could be one big thing, or several small things. As you think about that, what step do you need to take to pursue your calling with God-given confidence? #forged #aforgedlife #love #trustingod #faith #youareloved #godofallcreation #blessed

You can’t serve two masters.

Matthew 6:24

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

1 Timothy 6:10

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
