🪷 Mark your calendars! Op 22 oktober verwelkomen we @billymorgn tijdens Read On! Read On is een serie voordrachten en gesprekken met schrijvers en dichters. Tijdens het aankomende evenement ontvangen we schrijfster Billy Morgan. Ze zal voorlezen uit haar korte verhaal uit 2025, City Worker Dies, een psychoseksuele tour door het Parijs van de jaren zestig. Het verhaal werd geschreven voor haar tentoonstelling Lackadaisies bij jevouspropose in Zürich vorig jaar. Het evenement vindt plaats op donderdag 22 oktober, bij Buurthuis de Lente, een ruimte gerund door The Bookstore Foundation. Deuren openen om 18:30 uur. De toegang is gratis. El festival Poesía y Barbarie nos invitó a Voice as Landscape a proponer un programa digital en el que compartir el trabajo de artistas con los que hemos colaborado en Ámsterdam. Hemos llamado a la propuesta Canciones de aquí / Songs from here y tendrá lugar este Jueves 1 de octubre a las 19.30 online y será un recital de poemas, cuentos, textos y +++ con la participación de Enrico Dau Yang Wey, Martica Minipunto, Nikita Sena, Billy Morgan, Jonás de Murias, Alec Mateo y Lorenzo García Andrade. La propuesta busca actuar sobre una idea curva de la distancia en la que formatear la percepción de lugares lejanos sin hacer desaparecer aquello que los separa. Cada contribución dura entre cinco y diez minutos y da paso inmediatamente a la siguiente, sin interrupciones. Todas las cámaras permanecen apagadas excepto la de quien está leyendo así incorporando a la lectura la fisicidad de lo digital y del paisaje doméstico que la contiene. Una voz aparece donde termina otra; un espacio doméstico sucede a otro; un portal se aproxima la siguiente. Only a few days to go until Museumnacht FRL 🪵🍂 Come by for Billy Morgan’s performance The Hunt (Woodland Theme), our bar will be open and we will serve a special drink designed by Amsterdam-based artist Lupita Reggiani. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚 19:00 — Walk-in & Festive drinks 19:30 —Performance starts 20:00 — Speech by Billy Morgan and Lupita Reggiani 21:00 — Bar closes 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒌 For Museumnacht, she has created a unique cocktail called the WishKey: It is based on the ‘Highball,’ made with whiskey and soda water, as well as yuzu syrup, basil, and violet balls of ice. The ‘WishKey’ plants hope at the center of a rearranged “highball” — the hope of a goal recovered in a little ball of ice and violet. 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒓 Billy Morgan is an Amsterdam-based artist who moves between performance, text, and installation to build language-based constructions that foreground a formal estrangement, narrative, relational and material, driven at their heart by a desire for transmission. 𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕-𝒃𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 Lupita Reggiani is a multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam who aims to expose the mechanisms of control that limit our possibilities for action while creating spaces for moments of subversion. Come by to catch Billy Morgan’s @billymorgn performance and our bar will be open to serve special drinks with Amsterdam-based artist Lupita Reggiani @lupitaffantasyff3 🍸 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: The Hunt (Woodland Theme) is a performance by Billy Morgan, as part of her ongoing research residency at Syb. Drawing on a core line from her original work The Hunt (2025) — “Dear General, when are you going to protect me, since I am in need of protection?” — the work refers to infrastructural abandonment as common both to trans life and artistic labour. This variation includes new gestural and text material developed in Beetsterzwaag, drawing on the witnessing of local forestry work. The showing takes place across Syb’s ground floor.

Please save the new dates! 😃 - PV: 23rd January 2027 - Alterity FM LAUNCH PARTY: 20th Feb - exciting! - Somewhere between: Voices & Visions with @gekkenhuis.fam 👽🌀 🎉 U R ALL INVITED 🎉 Asylum X / Alterity FM presents two new installations: one at Manifold Books, the other in Palmer’s studio directly across the hall. Both spaces support alternative ways to gather and exchange. The new film installation Asylum X responds to Manifold Books’ program on non-linear experiences of time and reality. The film follows a Call Center translating material memories of psychiatric wards into an expanding digital space that can be shared and navigated. Call Center Agents relay anonymous callers’ instructions to Ali Eslami, who models them live in 3D VFX. When the realism becomes too much, the caller takes control of the space, reclaiming their agency with the support, humour and imagination of the team. New sculptures and drawings made in response to this experiment are also part of the installation. Alterity FM is a new disabled-led radio platform centering mad, crip and trans narratives as a framework for questioning oppressive power relations. The form of radio works on two levels: conceptually, it acknowledges bandwidths of reality muted by dominant social and political structures; pragmatically, it opens a hybrid platform that nurtures counter-culture and exchange between people who can be isolated by mental and physical health fluctuations, difference or location. This installation launches Alterity FM’s website and physical radio booth as spaces that empower marginalised perspectives through mutual recognition and political education. Kunsthuis Syb is delighted to welcome artist Billy Morgan. Starting from 12th of September, she will be staying with us for a research residency that looks into dance-based revivalism and cultural recycling. In her dance works, Billy takes gestures from diverse sources – social dance, medieval and present-day images of everyday life – in the belief that they carry a pre-existing social magic. Like words, gestures act as conduits for language; they transfer a historical charge. During her residency at Syb, Billy will critically reflect on this relationship to the past and the parallel often drawn between the past and nostalgia. Photo by Gergely Ofner

Angelic Conversations engages with structures of desire, undertaking the conditions of devotion, grace and ecstasy.
