Jonathan Reaches Final of BBC Young Chorister of the Year 2026!

Rugby School student Jonathan has reached the final of the BBC Junior Young Chorister of the Year 2026 competition following a successful performance in the semi-final.

Jonathan joined Rugby School from @biltongrangeprepschool , part of the Rugby School Group, in F Block (Year 9) as a Music Scholar. Before joining the School, he was a member of the Rugby Choristers programme at Bilton Grange, where he developed his vocal talent and passion for choral music.

Reflecting on his achievement, Jonathan said: “This experience was incredible because it allowed me to do what I love while meeting so many people along the way. Reaching the final means a great deal to me, as I have been auditioning for four years and have finally made it, not only into the competition but through to the final.

“When I found out I had reached the final, I was so happy. A few months ago, I had only auditioned and never imagined I would come this far.”

Tansy Castledine, Director of Music, said: “We are thrilled that Jonathan has reached the Junior Final of the BBC Songs of Praise Young Chorister of the Year 2026 competition. This is a wonderful achievement and recognition of his talent, musicality and dedication.

“Having developed through the Rugby Choristers programme at Bilton Grange and now flourishing as a Music Scholar at Rugby School, Jonathan has demonstrated exceptional commitment to his singing. We are immensely proud of him and wish him every success in the final.”

Boarding life is about so much more than dorms and routines — it’s about creating a home from home where children feel happy, supported and excited to grow.

A recent visit to Bilton Grange and Earle House reminded us that boarding can be full of fun too… yes, even a slide in the boarding house! 🎢

At Pathways, we love showcasing schools that offer warmth, opportunity and unforgettable experiences for families exploring boarding options. #boardingschool #education #pathways #bsa #schools

Over the weekend, I was lucky enough to visit Bilton Grange Prep School in Warwickshire. I had the opportunity to tour their stunning 90-acre grounds, meet with the Director of Sport and Headmaster, and watch their First XI take on Cothill. I was made to feel incredibly welcome, and Built In and Pathways are looking forward to working together to help guide and support families #education #pathways #independentschools #admissions #pathwaysconsultancy
