MEMORIAL CEREMONY
Friday February 6

The concluding act of the three days of commemorative events, the memorial ceremony, was held at S:t Ansgarskapell in Högalidskyrkan. It was conducted as a solemn and open gathering devoted to remembrance and a final farewell, allowing guests to arrive and depart in their own pace.

The ceremony was accompanied by vocal performance by @matildajmusic as well as organ music performed by @oscarcallebrobergsson lending depth and solemnity to the occasion. The final urn, holding the ashes of DUM KERAMIK, was encircled by a floral arrangement thoughtfully composed by our long-standing favorite, @club.yvonne , whose artistry contributed grace and solemn beauty to the setting.

𝘽𝙖𝙗𝙮 𝘽𝙡𝙪𝙚 by Bim Eriksson

🏆 Baby’s first graphic novel was a winner! I’m glad this one caught my husband’s eye when we were bookstore hopping during Portland Book Week. I doubt I would have picked it up otherwise. For whatever reason, I’ve never been drawn to graphic novels...hence why it took me 37 years to read my first one.

😱 I was surprised by how much context I was able to get from so few words and those duotone graphics, which are drawn in what the publisher describes as a “delightfully twisted, sad girl style”.

👁️ This dystopian story depicts a surveillance state in which Swedish citizens are closely monitored by peacekeepers who don’t simply restrict people’s actions, they also attempt to control their feelings.

🐰 Betty is a woman in her 20s whose desire to fit in competes with her undisclosed depression. When she’s caught crying in public, the peacekeepers send her to a government-run health clinic to be treated for her illness. That’s where she meets Berina, a woman wearing a bunny mask who just so happens to be the most esteemed member of a secret resistance.

Bim Eriksson (SE) kommer, hurra!
 Bim Eriksson er tegneserieskaper og illustratør. Hun debuterte som tegneserietegner i 2016 med den selvbiografiske tegneserieromanen Det kändes lugnt när mina känslor dog. Tegneseriene hennes har blitt publisert i aviser og magasiner som Le Monde diplomatique, Internazionale, Galago og BANG. I 2021 ga hun ut tegneserieromanen Baby Blue, en dystopisk thriller om et samfunn hvor folks følelser er strengt overvåket. Romanen har blitt oversatt til åtte språk. Den italienske utgaven av Baby Blue ble nominert til Carlo Boscarato Award for Best International Artist.

This weekend marks the SI MoCCA Arts Festival @soi128 ! Now in its 23rd year, the festival continues to honor outstanding comic, cartoon, illustration, and animation artists from around the globe.

This year’s main visual is crafted by award-winning artist Linnea Sterte 🇸🇪, whose work will be featured in the Souvenir Journal, showcased on a large display at the festival, and available on select merchandise. Also, don’t miss the debut of comic artist Bim Eriksson 🇸🇪, who is launching her English book, ”Baby Blue,” a captivating dystopian thriller.
