When Bonnie first came to me, she was frustrated.

👉 Why Isometric Core Work Matters

Planks and Hollow Holds aren't just about “holding position”—they’re about owning tension and control.

They help:

💪 Build deep core strength (not just surface abs)
💪 Improve posture and spinal stability
💪 Reinforce bracing for lifts (deadlifts, squats, etc.)
💪 Build control of your ribcage + pelvis

They also activate your glutes, shoulders, chest and legs. It's basically a full body isometric workout.

These cues help get you into a good PLANK position:

☑️ Pull your elbows to your toes
☑️ Squeeze your glutes like you’re cracking a walnut
☑️ Ribs down—don’t let your low back sag
☑️ Push the floor away
☑️ Make your body one solid line

These cues help you get into a good HOLLOW HOLD position:

☑️ Tuck your pelvis. Think belt buckle to your chin
☑️ Slight curve like a banana
☑️ Short breaths. Don’t lose your brace.

And the most important point:

Your lower back MUST stay pressed into the floor.

SCALING

Planks: Elevate. It's that easy. Use a chair, table, steps, etc. Anything that makes you more vertical.

Hollow Holds: Hands NEXT to your butt cheeks. Not under or in the small of your back. Rise up on your elbows. Lift your legs. Bent to start and then gradually straighten them.

PROGRAM

Beginners: 3–4 sets of 15–30 sec (perfect form)
Intermediate: 3–4 sets of 30–45 sec
Advanced: 4–5 sets of 45-60 sec

I was unsure at first but now I’m sold 🎉⬇️

As you may know, Bernese Mountain Dogs blow their coat twice a year which causes extra tuffs of hair to be everywhere. 🫣
