Berry Stein of @artlifepractice is coming to Bird’s! This is not a drill! Join us Thursday, November 5th for a night of still-life sketching, collage, and conversation celebrating the new edition of The Guided Sketchbook. We’ll spend the night making things with our hands while Berry shares the intention behind the book and why a consistent art practice is so good for us.

No art experience needed, just curiosity and a creative itch to scratch. Snacks from @boxedbites and the best kind of chatter provided, BYOB.

Bird’s is honored to be the only Texas retailer of Art Life Practice and we can’t wait to welcome Berry into our nest. Snag your tickets at the link in bio.

Back in 1993, leadership at The Family Place leadership (particularly Paige Flink) astutely recognized the power of harnessing Dallas’ passion for shopping and philanthropy. That year, they launched Partners Card, offering discounts at participating local retailers for a one-time purchase of $50.

Today, the card costs $100. All proceed go towards The Family Place, a Dallas-based nonprofit that helps survivors of domestic and family violence across North Texas. You can shop at participating retailers and restaurants from Friday, October 23 to Sunday, November 1. We asked six savvy shoppers for their strategies. Read them now at the link in our bio. This and a good book. 📚🤍

I stumbled upon Bird’s Bookstore in Preston Hollow while running errands, and it was such a cute find! The interior is absolutely beautiful and it has such a warm and inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to relax and get lost in a good book.

An evening well spent at a book signing @birdsbookstore with @carlykuhn , author and illustrator of Character Study.

I loved hearing her talk about her creative process, how something as simple as watching someone order coffee can become inspiration for her work.

Such a lovely reminder to stay curious, pay attention, and find inspiration in the world around us. ✨

What an unforgettable evening!

Thank you to Birds Books and the incomparable Jenny Walton for inviting me to moderate a conversation celebrating her beautiful new book, Jenny Sais Quoi: Adventures in Vintage and Personal Style.

The book is a gorgeous collection of images and stories, but its deeper message is even more compelling: personal style, much like a meaningful life, is something we cultivate. It asks us to stay curious, experiment freely, and find joy in becoming more fully ourselves.

That was the spirit of our conversation; fashion, art, memory, and the endlessly fascinating business of being oneself. Thank you to everyone who joined us and so generously supported me.

And Jenny, thank you for your generosity, your delightful spirit, and the unexpected pleasure of a new friendship. It isn’t every day one finds a kindred spirit with an equally discerning appreciation for a certain JWA pigeon.

Here’s to more new adventures and a new feathered friend!

Wore vintage to celebrate @jennymwalton 📚📚💖 Jenny’s book 𝘑𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘚𝘢𝘪𝘴 𝘘𝘶𝘰𝘪: 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘝𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦 & 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦 is out now. So glad we could be apart of your first trip to Texas! Merci beaucoup @professor_bolton for the invitation. As always, you conducted the most stylish of all interviews. And thank you to the wonderful team at @birdsbookstore for putting this special event together.

I’ve been following Jenny’s fashionable social media journey for what seems like the better half of a decade, so it was beyond inspiring to learn more about how she navigates her life and art. And to see her mold her multi-hyphenate talents into this beautiful book? Incroyable.

Dallas Birthday Bookstore Crawl Stop 1: Bird's Bookstore (Royal Lane, Dallas)

Warm wood, clean lines, elegant design. Much bigger inside than you expect, as each room unfolds from the next. And best of all, the fiction room is round! Did I mention the in-store coffee shop, which had one of the best flat whites I've ever had? If you visit one bookstore for the vibes, this is it.
