When was the last time an entire industry came together, not to compete, but to celebrate one another? That was the spirit of the 9th Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards. At a time when hospitality continues to face real challenges, it was inspiring to see chefs, restaurateurs, hoteliers, managers and hospitality professionals unite for one unforgettable evening of recognition, celebration and togetherness. A truly special moment was presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award to @antonaandreas , whose remarkable contribution has helped shape Birmingham into one of the UK’s leading food destinations. Congratulations to every finalist and winner. Your passion, resilience and dedication continue to inspire us all. Food, Drink & Hospitality that’s what it was all about on Monday night as we proudly celebrated the 9th @mfdhawards The purple carpet was rolled out and ready to welcome our finalists, sponsors, partners and guests for what turned out to be an unforgettable evening. With 33 winners crowned for 2026, the event once again recognised and celebrated the very best in restaurants, bars, hotels, venues and the outstanding individuals who make this industry thrive. From talented chefs and dedicated bar and restaurant managers to exceptional general managers and rising stars making a huge impact, the room was filled with excellence and inspiration. Hosted by the fantastic @philoldershawofficial Guests were treated to incredible entertainment from @hit_thedhol_ who had everyone on their feet embracing the Bhangra spirit, while our @undercoverartistsuk kept the party going. One of the most special moments of the evening was presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award to @antonaandreas man whose influence on Birmingham and the Midlands hospitality scene has been nothing short of remarkable. Another standout moment was celebrating @alexnicholsonevans who was named Hospitality Personality of the Year. We were also proud to have @theburntchefproject as our charity partner for the evening. “What does it really take to be a judge?” Behind every finalist, every winner and every award is a process built on integrity, expertise and honest discussion. This week, our judges came together for the 9th Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards and faced the incredibly difficult task of reviewing an outstanding calibre of nominations. The quality across every category was exceptional, making decisions far from easy. As organisers, @an1tachumb3r and @ifraz_1 of @beventspresents remain completely independent from the winner selection process. Instead, we carefully bring together industry experts, specialists and previous award winners to create a balanced, authentic and transparent judging panel that reflects the breadth of our hospitality sector. Soooo it appears Bite Your Brum turns 9 this weekend 👀 I was just flicking through some old pictures and realised it’s my baby’s birthday 🎈No, I don’t know how I’m still alive (let alone running this page) either! I won’t wang on in my usual emo fashion this year, just know I’m grateful for all BYB has given me and the beautiful people I’ve met through it.. especially Jason Momoa 😉 Whether you’ve been here for ages or are one of the many confused Welsh people that started following me this week after ‘those’ Cardiff shenanigans, I appreciate you 🫶🏼 So here’s to all the pints (and hangovers), all the cobs, all the “..shall we go to Missing?” side eyes, all the launches, parties and events, all the lock-ins, all the cackling and screaming, all the beer gardens and badly applied sun cream, all the photo booths and toilet selfies, all the extreme day trips and lunchtime sangria, all of the chaos goblin adventures, all the dogs you kindly let me play with, all the festivals and markets, all the 40th birthdays, all the fried things and fancy things, all the tequila rose shots, and all the iPhones I’ve lost along the way.
