Meet Bjorn!

It was a real pleasure to meet this gentleman, pro surfer, TBI Survivor, and Founder/CEO of @strengthinpainfoundation, a non profit organization serving individuals impacted by traumatic brain injuries. His non profit is improving and changing lives, one person at a time,

Q.&A.

How old are you?
39

How old were you when you started surfing and how did you get your start?

I got into surfing because one day when I was 6 years old I thought it would be a good idea to stand up on my boogie board in the white watering that was it. I was hooked. I told my Dad I wanted to surf after that happened and he found a beat up board in a dumpster and gave it to me and that was it. Been surfing ever since. Haha.
Do you compete in surf competitions?

Later I competed in the NSSA as a grom and competed professionally as an adult on the @wsl.

What do you like most about the Huntington Beach Surf Community?

I grew up in Costa Mesa so Huntington Beach is like a second home to me. I love how tight the crew of surfers is over there but welcoming to surfers from all over the world at the same time which you can see every year during the US Open of Surf. The local colorful characters in the water are the icing on the cake. Lol.

This surf community is truly epic. I feel so blessed to connect with each surfer.

There’s a passion, a thirst, a life force that fuels their well being.

To celebrate surfing in the Olympics Gayle MacAllister creates timeless B&W portraits of surfers. Her images on Instagram help promote Huntington Beach as a potential 2028 Surfing Olympic Village.

All made possible by your generous donations! Big thanks to our rock star fundraiser @megsontwitch ! And big thanks to @myblochwellness and @grassrootswellnessfoundation for all of their help with the brain injury community!
