By now you all may have heard that I played a marathon 26.5hr set at @sunwavesfest #SW24 😱 There’s been a pattern each year of pushing things to the extreme, and while I’ve succumbed to that urge (being the kind of old-school-open-to-close DJ that I am) it has been incredibly taxing on my hearing. Without a doubt, programming and pacing such a long set is tricky, while physically it’s actually a breeze; but it certainly takes its toll on the ears which, to ANY musician, is challenging and worrisome. So from next year expect a more REASONABLE set length from me. And I urge you all to invest in some custom fitted earplugs; wear them when you are at clubs, festivals and concerts, and especially when you see me because my bass is lethal 😈😉

Thank you @mahonyro, @johnkristal, @mirelabalan, @sashalondon and especially the amazing crowd and fans I had during that ride who cheered me on thru the very end. That was most certainly one for the books! Romania you are truly special ❤️

Also a BIG thank you to my friend Hugo @pro_audioibz in Ibiza who at the very last minute was able to get us a #MODEL1 🙏 Pics by @alexvlaseum

Still can't process the fact that I spent an otherwise typical Wednesday seeing the one band that - thru their live shows and the incredible music they released over 3 decades! - made me want to pursue a career in music. And not only that, but getting to hang afterwards, sharing a beer and conversation with @depechemode member Andy Fletcher! Woah! Oh and just last month meeting and chatting to Martin Gore in Copenhagen and taking founding member Vince Clarke to dinner in Paris....well I'm in full fanboy mode at the moment and struggling to process it all! The show was EVERYTHING I wanted it to be; Dave Gahan delivered as he always does, and I must say that I LOVE the new album material! A very emotional nite for me; all those old songs triggering so many beautiful memories, trying (and failing) to fight back tears of joy and sharing it all with @black.celebration and @peymanshaafi who love DM as much as me! A nite that i'll always treasure🙏 #Legends @muterecords #Kiev

While we all came together last night in my old stomping ground to celebrate our diversity, what had happened in #Nice weighed heavy in our collective minds and hearts😞 A few of the many old / current friends that came out for my open to close set at @18thstlounge from (clockwise) @black.celebration who has only ever worn black since our teen years and still only ever listens to @depechemode ; @loftybullock my English buddy from the old days of Exodus around 1989 / 1990 where I held a weekly residency playing everything from jazz, soul, acid jazz, hip hop, house, techno to everything in between and where my Jamaican MC / selecta @hutchymusic and I created magic each and every week at for years; and finally #RebeccaFishman who alongside her brother Zalman owned and operated arguably the most influential nightclub in Washington, DC in the 80's and 90's, #TheFifthColumn where I basically lived at 3+ nights of the week, also becoming a regular guest / resident DJ. Great to see these and many more old friends and also to greet so many who travelled from all over the Tri-state area to come down and groove. This town and its many characters, will always hold a special place in my heart ❤️ Thank you #DC and my friend Farid for letting me do these one-offs whenever I can🙏 @playdifferently #PLAYdifferently #ADecadeOfDubfire
