Big progress on our new CNC vacuum hold-down system! 💨🔥

The @blackboxvac Hurricane is officially powered up, and this thing has some serious suction! 💪 It’s running great—and I’m genuinely impressed by how much quieter it is than I expected.

Next up: hoses, ductwork, and getting everything connected to the CNC. A lot of those parts will be custom 3D printed, and once we have the system dialed in, we’ll make our designs available so you can build your own setup too. 😎👍

That’s a 3/8” roughing bit taking out over 1/2” of material at roughly 250-300IPM and it’s like it’s not even there! I’m telling you, don’t discount this machine! It’s very very capable! Check out my affiliate link in the bio if you’d like to pick one up for yourself! @siencilabs @blackboxvac

Apparently this is how you make a REALLY good first impression. 😂

We just received our new vacuum system from Black Box Vacuum Solutions⁠, and they didn’t just send the equipment… they also included an entire box of goodies, treats, and completely ridiculous toys for us to discover during the unboxing. 😂

This is the beginning of a new collaboration for us, and we’re really excited to put this system to work in the shop. Black Box specializes in vacuum hold-down systems for CNC routers, so you can probably guess where this project is headed. 👀

More importantly, the team at Black Box has been amazing to work with. Super helpful, incredibly friendly, and clearly they have a pretty good sense of humor too.

Huge thank you to the Black Box team for the equipment, the unexpected care package, and for making this collaboration so much fun already. We can’t wait to get everything hooked up and start making some chips!

Two Twins Trucking out of Rochelle, Illinois trusted us to create something that represents more than a company name. Every sign we make at Cornbread Custom Signs is cut on our Avid CNC held Down with the Trusty Black Box Vacuum Hurricane, but it is finished by hand with patience, focus, and pride. We do not rush the details because we know what that name on the board stands for.

When the original sign was damaged in transport, it hit us hard. We take it personally when something carrying a family’s story does not arrive the way it left our shop. Instead of waiting on a claim and letting time drag on, we rebuilt it immediately. We moved it to the front of production, remade it with the same care, and had a new one shipped out within 7 days.

We are truly thankful they gave us the opportunity to make it right. For many years to come, that sign is going to hold their story, their why, and their legacy. Long after conversations fade, that piece of wood will still be hanging there. Generations will see it, ask about it, and hear the story behind it. That is why we take so much pride in our craft. It is never just a sign to us. It is part of someone’s journey, and we are honored to play a small role in that.

By the time someone comes to us, the hard part is already done. The sacrifice. The grind. The risk. The losses. The wins that didn’t look like wins at first. The sleepless nights. The doubt. The years of showing up when nobody was watching. The decision to keep going when it would have been easier to quit. The sign is not the accomplishment. It is the proof it happened. Proof that the work was real. Proof that something was built, earned, or fought for. Proof that it mattered.

And we do not take that lightly.

We are grateful every time someone trusts us with something that carries that kind of weight. Thankful to be a small part of a much bigger journey. These pieces are not just made for today. They are built to outlast moments. They hang on walls as a reminder of pride, effort, and respect. One day the next generation will look at them and ask what it means. And when they do, the story gets told again. The pride is still there. The respect is still there.
