In a city where housing insecurity, crime, and gentrification dominate the headlines, how do everyday New Yorkers create spaces of belonging?

We’re collaborating Nicole Moore (@thehotnessgrrrl), a writer, activist and the founder of @blackharlemlives to launch “Come Into My House,” a new video series that explores the answers to that question through intimate profiles of New York City residents who’ve transformed both ordinary and extraordinary spaces into refuges of safety, comfort, and community.

We’re kicking it off with actress and Harlem resident, #MarcellaLowery. Known for her roles in “The Cosby Show,” “Ghostwriter,” and “City Guys,” Lowery has lived in Harlem for 40 years, where she has organized for tenants rights and lent emotional support to many neighbors as they navigated housing court. In her free time, she likes to quilt, crochet and make jewelry.

We sat down with Lowery to discuss her favorite parts of living in Harlem, why she decided to start making jewelry after years of acting, and how she likes to relax in these chaotic times.

Click the link in our bio to see our interview with Lowery and peep her jewelry and artwork.
