📚☀️🌅FRI OCT 30: @adfrntbooklist and @baba_nyumbani are proud to present THE SUN WILL SHINE ON MY TOMORROW. The story of Dorice Lusuli as told by author Sandee MacGregor. “The Sun Will Shine on My Tomorrow” tells the true story of Dorice, a young girl in Nairobi, Kenya, who lost both of her parents and was left facing fear, grief, and uncertainty about what would come next. Through prayer and the support of a caring village, she found the food, school fees, and protection she needed, along with a renewed sense of hope for her future! Please, join us to celebrate this story at 6:30pm at @adfrntbooklist.

Sandee Macgregor is a Canadian author based in Southern Ontario. Trained as a teacher, she is the author of two bestselling devotionals, a shared mother-daughter journal through Psalm 119 and a mother-son devotional walking through the book of Proverbs, as well as the children’s books “Can I Take It to Heaven?” and “Lucy’s Adoption Song,” the latter also based on a true story about a family’s international adoption journey.

Baba Nyumbani, Swahili for “father of the home,” is a family-style village in Kitale, Kenya, founded in 2004. Children grow up in loving, stable homes with house parents, aunties, grandparents, and siblings, either together in the village or alongside relatives in their home communities, and are supported through school, college, and into independent adulthood.

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of popping into A DIFFERENT BOOKLIST Bookstore to celebrate the launch 🚀 of a new 📕 book called DELE & AMINATA’S JOLLOF WAR by Yewande Daniel-Ayoade which took place on October 10, 2026.

Yewande is a Calgary-based award-winning author and this is her second book.

I absolutely adored this book when I read a digital preview copy months ago.

Now, I finally get to hold one in my hands. It is really such a gorgeous book— funny, fresh, and yummy.

The launch was complete with Jollof spice making, a lively reading, and appearance with the author.

It was great to see author Sadé Smith there as well.

From this book launch, I headed to @chubbysjamaican t prepare for the SANKOFA’S PEN Fall Gathering and Sadé’s surprise shower.

Congratulations to my fellow Owlkids author Yewande and her illustrator, Bri Marie!
