The Accra chapter of the @nonamereads bookclub is back in 2026 🥁🥁🥁, starting off strong with our reading and discussion of Nervous Conditions. We invite our old and new members to join us this month for our very first read of 2026. It promises to be informative and thought provoking!

Kindly note that, our online weekly reading parties has resumed too.

Most importantly mark your calendars for our physical meeting on the last Saturday of January.

Send us a dm to join! We would love to have you read, chat and study with us 🫶🏾.

“Each generation must, out of relative obscurity, discover its mission...” 📖✊🏾

Hi folks!

We’re 23 days away from our next session, which gives us plenty of time to sit with the work of Frantz Fanon. A psychiatrist and revolutionary, Fanon didn’t just write about colonization; he lived the struggle in Algeria, documenting how the empire affects the human psyche.

Why is The Wretched of the Earth essential? It’s more than a book; it’s a manual for liberation. Whether he’s dissecting systemic violence or the complexities of national culture, Fanon’s 1961 insights feel incredibly sharp and relevant to the world we’re navigating right now.

Come through and join the conversation. Fanon’s work is a lot to take in on your own, and it’s always better to unpack these ideas in a community. Whether you’re a total beginner or a frequent reader, we want to hear what you think. Every voice makes the discussion better!

📩 Slide into our DMs if you have any questions or would like to join the Accra Chapter of NoName Bookclub. Let’s get to work!

Our November meet at @loatad_org , dived into Yaa Gyasi’s “Homegoing.” This book isn’t just history; it’s a mirror to our present. The discussion was heavy, necessary, and ultimately focused on how we heal, help each other, and rebuild from the legacies we’ve inherited. Our discussion was also a mix of reactions on how to address the crises left by slavery, colonialism, and imperialism. We left with more questions than answers, and that feels like the right place to start. 📖✨ We equally acknowledged that there’s so much more we can do, and there’s so much that is required from us. So we will keep reading, discussing, studying, and taking the necessary steps forward!

✨POV: Your book club is trying to discuss a heavy historical fiction novel✨

Member 1: “Actually, there were some historical inaccuracies in the text…”

Member 2: “This is distracting us from current systemic injustices!”

Member 3: “But what are the SOLUTIONS? What can we do to solve the crisis that we live in, to make the world a better place for us and the generations to come?”

Member 4: 🥲 softly, while pouring juice, “Can we just… find a single, solvable problem first? For my migraine?”

Our book club: part historians, part activists, part realists, and one overwhelmed mediator😆😭

RE-READ SELECTION (Black Male Edition) 🫶🏾📖

I’ve had so many friends, Bookstas, general peeps always ask about what the “favourite” book is and to be honest I can never give just the one answer. Here’s a selection of the crème de la crème of stories created by Black male authors. All definitely will be getting a reread because I fell in love with each book!

Let us know your book that’s 100% worthy of a re-read? 💕
