The @sunblindhc 8-song debut EP, “The Undertow” is now live on all streaming platforms + Bandcamp. Recorded at @sharkbitestudios with Ry Ellery (Greyhound) and mastered at Macro Studios by Amar Lal / @ummm_r (Big Ups, No Lights), we’re proud of how this came out and we’re excited for everyone to give it a listen. If you’re into physical media, venture over to @indecisionrecords and get yourself a copy on vinyl or CD. The design and layout were done by Randy Mordecai / @thecryinglight with photography by Steph Gray / @xofinn and it turned out great. The record release show will be at the @hardcoreforpitswest show at @924gilmanstreet on October 25. 👊

Getting Geoff Turner aka The Wizard to record (and magick-up) Soulside’s cover version of the Scream song “Laissez-Faire” was a coup. Another coup was Scream recording the Soulside song “Reconstruction” in Montreal. Third coup is Dischord Records releasing the songs together as a brand-new 7”. I’ve been a massive Scream fan for more than 40 years, so I’m low-key really fucking proud to play bass on one side of this. The songs trace different periods in American history and reflect a lifelong fight for racial justice. The 7” (vinyl, digital) can be ordered at https://dischord.com/release/202/plays Drums extraordinaire, most photos, and 7” sleeve design by @macronic

A few years ago we did several tours with our label mates Soulside, smashing it down together every night! We wanted to keep the party going, so we challenged ourselves to cover each other’s music. In Montreal, we went into Indica Studios to do our own take on Soulside while echoing the great lyrics and strong message of their song “Reconstruction”. Read the lyrics and sing the song and you might recognize the legacy of systemic racism that we still live with today. Check it out through Dischord at https://dischord.com/release/202/plays

Scream and Soulside first played together at the Cubby Bear in Chicago in July 1988. After a few more shows together that year, they didn’t share a stage again until July 2022, at the Inne Brzmienia festival in Lublin, Poland. There in Poland the two bands met minds, and a match was struck. Soulside and Scream soon released new albums on Dischord Records, then toured together in the US and Europe in 2023 and 2024. This 7” is a gathering of forces and musical admiration to spread a message of love and a litelong commitment to the struggle for true American justice. “Laissez-Faire” was written by Scream and first appeared on Still Screaming (Dischora, 1983). This version is performed by Soulside and was recorded and mixed in June 2025. “Reconstruction” was written by Soulside and first appeared on A Brief Moment in the Sun (Dischord, 2022). This version is performed by Scream and was recorded in September 2024. The 7” is available now to pre-order on the dischord site and Bandcamp.
