Just refreshing your timeline with the beauty of our people. This young brother can sing.
•
Born Trevon Williams, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Montgomery, Alabama gained national attention during Season 24 of American Idol, but his journey started long before the big stage.
•
Growing up, Trew faced major family challenges, including his mother’s battle with addiction, and stepped up at a young age to help care for his younger siblings. His mother eventually got clean, but sadly passed away in 2022 just as they were beginning to rebuild their relationship.
•
In 2023, Trew first went viral after a Waffle House employee asked him to sing before handing over his order. That moment reached millions of people and introduced the world to his voice.
•
He later took that voice to American Idol, earning three yes votes and a golden ticket to Hollywood after performing Sam Cooke’s “Nothing Can Change This Love.”
•
Although his Idol journey eventually ended during the group rounds, Trew continued creating music, releasing his Long Overdue EP and “My Home in Alabama,” an original love letter to the state that raised him.
•
His story is a reminder that our struggles do not have to define our future. Sometimes the experiences we survive become part of the purpose we carry forward.
•
Trew the Star turned his struggle into purpose, and his voice deserves to be heard.

Dr. Bill Releford, a podiatric surgeon known for working to prevent amputations, purchased Bloom Ranch in Acton, California in 2023.
•
The 250-acre property is described as the largest Black-owned farm in Los Angeles County, growing produce including greens and peaches along with lavender.
•
Releford is connecting agriculture directly to healthcare by using the farm to support a “food as medicine” approach, helping patients access fresh produce alongside traditional medical care.
•
Through work connected with UCLA and Charles R. Drew University, produce boxes are matched to patient needs, bringing nutrition into the conversation around prevention and long-term health.
•
The bigger lesson is ownership. Instead of only treating health problems after they happen, this model connects land, food production, medicine, and community control.
•
For our community, owning the land where our food is grown gives us another opportunity to protect our health, create businesses, provide jobs, and build assets that can serve generations.
•
Owning the land, controlling the food, and using both to improve our health is a powerful form of wealth.

Bishop George Bloomer, longtime pastor of Bethel Family Worship Center and well-known televangelist, was awarded $62.2 million by a federal jury following his lawsuit against The Word Network and its owner, Kevin Adell.
•
Bloomer sued in 2022, alleging racial discrimination, harassment, and retaliation after Adell sent a digitally altered image showing himself dressed as a pimp and surrounded by several Black ministers, including Bloomer.
•
Bloomer objected to the image and said it carried racist connotations. According to court filings and testimony, the dispute later escalated with additional comments, references to the image, and alleged threats involving Bloomer’s airtime.
•
A federal judge had already ruled that Bloomer presented direct evidence of race discrimination, allowing the case to move forward to trial.
•
After a five-day trial, the jury sided with Bloomer under federal civil rights law protecting against racial discrimination in contracts and awarded him $62.2 million.
•
The case is another reminder that racism and discrimination can carry serious legal and financial consequences, even in spaces that present themselves as faith-based or community-centered.
•
Respect, dignity, and equal treatment should never disappear because business and ministry overlap. Accountability still matters.

Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine has been awarded preliminary accreditation, making it the only HBCU college of medicine in the Gulf South and the fifth HBCU medical school in the country.
•
The school was established through a partnership between Xavier University of Louisiana and Ochsner Health, combining Xavier’s long history of preparing Black students for medical careers with Ochsner’s clinical training resources.
•
Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine plans to begin recruiting its inaugural class of medical students for 2027, creating another pathway for future physicians while helping address healthcare workforce shortages.
•
This matters because representation in medicine is about more than seeing more Black doctors. It is about increasing access, expanding opportunity, strengthening institutions, and making sure our communities have a greater voice in the systems responsible for our health.
•
More Black doctors means more opportunities for future generations to see themselves in medicine, pursue careers in healthcare, and serve the communities that need them.
•
A major step for Black representation in medicine as Xavier expands opportunities for future physicians and healthier communities.

Ohio has enacted a new law requiring public school districts to teach students the “success sequence,” a framework that encourages young people to complete high school, obtain full-time employment, and marry before having children.
•
Gov. Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 276 on July 7, 2026, and the law took effect October 6.
•
The law says these three milestones are associated with a lower likelihood of poverty in adulthood and directs the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce to maintain curriculum and resources for students in grades six through twelve.
•
School districts must incorporate the instruction into one or more courses required for high school graduation, either through state-reviewed materials, another aligned curriculum, or existing coursework.
•
For Black families, this conversation matters because education, employment, marriage, and family structure all play a major role in long-term stability, wealth building, and the opportunities available to the next generation.
•
The goal should not simply be telling young people what choices to make, but helping them understand how major life decisions can affect finances, family stability, and the future they are building.
•
Strong families, steady income, education, and preparation can create a stronger foundation for generational wealth.

A conversation on @tonightsconversation raises an important question about boundaries in marriage. Another man reportedly asked to secretly see a married woman, and instead of shutting the message down, she reacted to it with a heart.
•
Even if nothing physical happened, that response matters. When someone approaches you in a way that disrespects your marriage, entertaining it, encouraging it, or responding in a way that could be interpreted as interest can cross a line.
•
Marriage requires more than simply saying “I didn’t do anything.” It requires protecting the relationship, respecting your spouse, and making your boundaries clear to people outside of the marriage.
•
A heart reaction may seem small, but context matters. If another man is asking to meet you secretly, the appropriate response should communicate that the request is unacceptable, not leave room for confusion.
•
Trust is built through transparency and consistency. Your spouse should not have to wonder whether you are leaving the door open for someone else.
•
Being married means protecting the covenant even when your spouse isn’t in the room.
•
What do you think? Was her husband justified in being suspicious after seeing how she responded?
